The object the provision the fly wheel of this, my present invention, is of'a gyroscopic toy which, when is turned rapidly with a str ng will balance itself on a cord track which is stretched between two points, and whereby the toy will travel toward one of such points, and when such point is elevated, the toy will travel in an oppos te direction toward the other point, so that by raising and lowering the ends of the track the toy will continue in a backward and forward movement for a long period of time, the toy being also provided with means to prevent the same from falling off of the track when the fly wheel thereof ceases to rotate.
To the attainment of the foregoing the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.

My improved toy contemplates the employment of a carriage. The carriage in the showing of the drawing is made up of two metal strips which at points adjacent to its center and adjacent to its ends are riveted or otherwise connected together. The body 1 of the carriage, at the center thereof, has the strips comprising the same bent outwardly and extended longitudinally in a plane with the body 1, thus providing the frame with a substantially rectangular open portion 2. The plates constituting the frame, adjacent the ends are also bent outwardly and are continued longitudinally in parallelism so that each end of the body is forked, as the parallel arms at the forked ends of the body there are the short shafts or trunnions for peripherally grooved wheels 4.
The longitudinal and parallel portions at the central part 2 of the body 1 are provided with alining openings to receive therein trunnions 5 on the ends of a shaft 6 which is fixed on and depending from the vertical ring member 7 for the gyroscope.
