This invention relates tobrake shoes' and'is illustrated as embodied in an `arcuate[and substantially rigid shoe suitable for' use in an internal expanding automobile brake. An object of the invention is to provide in an inexpensive manner a very strong shoe in which there is a stitl'ening web separate from the outer cylindrical part or band of the shoe and in which they are connected by means serving to brace them against each other. In one desirable arrangement there is a part, preferably separate from the stiiening web, engaging at one edge the inner face of the outer cylindrical part and at its inner edge "f engaging the stitfening web between its edges,

thus forming a brace which gives :with 'the stitfening web and the outer band a Very strong trussed section of triangular form. This bracing part is supplemented on the other side ot' the stiifening web with an anglesectioned reinforcing member closely' fitting within the junction between the cylindrical Web.

Other features of t e invention relate to details of the mount-ing of the bracing part and to other novel and desirable constructions Which will be apparent from the following description of several illustrative embodiments shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
