This invention relates to a unique type of toy for shooting projectiles, the structure being such as to justify the adoption of the title gun.
As the latter term implies, my idea is to provide a different and unusual type of gun of a simple and economical and efficient type using air pressure for forcibly dejecting the projectiles flight.
Briefly stated, this improved pneumatic gun is characterized by a drum having a drum like sound producing and developing device and a ball directing barrel, together with means for pregressively feeding balls or projectiles into the barrel for successive projection.

The numeral 4 designates the pressure developing or pneumatic impact device. This preferably comprises a pan-like receptacle having a concavo-conveX bottom 5 and an upstanding annular rim 6 provided with a channel shaped bear 7 constituting a retaining clamp for the peripheral edge of a flexible drum slrin diaphragm 8. Connected with the rim at a predetermined point is a T- shaped coupling 9 containing an internal shoulder forming nipple 10. Secured to the longitudinal branch of this coupling is a tube 11 which functions as the barrel to deliver the projectile balls. Incidentally I find it exceedingly practical to use light weight celluloid hollow balls of the type used in games a0 of the ping-pong type. The balls can be inserted one by one by hand for shooting purposes. It is desired however to provide a continuous shooting gun for which reason I find it better to provide a delivery magazine 5 which comprises an upstanding cylinder 13 constituting a container for the superposed balls. On the upper end of this cylinder there is a removable closing cap V14 having slot 15 coopera-ble with the retaining pin 16. In the upper portion of the magazine cylinder a coiled expansion spring 17 bearing on a" follower disk 18 presses down on the balls' to deliver them successively into the barrel to occupy vthe desired shooting position. The numeral 19 in Figure 3 designates ball retain- 55 ing spring for holding the balls temporarily in place before preparing for projection.v The balls are prevented from being sucked into the drum casing by the nipple 10 which functions as a stop or shoulder.
. The desired concussion of air is developed by hitting the fist of palm of the hand thoroughly on the iiexible lskin diaphragm 8. This provides the impact noise amplified by the pan 4L. In fact the pan serves somewhat 65 as a resinator producing the desired quality of noise. At the same time this diaphragm action acts against the ball, shooting the ball out through the barrel 11 in anobvious manner. `The next succeeding ball in the magazine drops down by gravity and under the action of the plunger or follower 18, and the air in the shooting drum is replenished by the suction intake which is developed as the diaphragm is released by removing hand pressure therefrom.
It is thought that the description taken in connection with the drawing will enable a clear understanding of the invention to be had. Therefore, a more lengthy description is thought unnecessary. y
While the preferred `embodiment of the invention has been shown and described, it is to be understood that minor changes coming within the field of invention claimed may 35 be resorted to if desired.
What is claimed is:
1. A gun of the class described comprising a pneumatic device embodying a receptacle having a flexible diaphragm dening an air trapping and exhausting chamber, a barrel attached to the marginal rim portion of said container, and means for feeding projectiles into said barrel comprising a container secured to said receptacle in communication 9b with said barrel and a spring-pressed follower in said container.
