IMPROVEMENT m lCE-CREEPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 187,347, dated February 13,1877; application filed January 19, 1877.
To all whom. it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHARLES BARTLETT and EVERETT C. LEWIS, residents of the city of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain .Im provements in Creepers; and we do hereby declare the following to be a true and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon.
With reference to the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation, showing it attached to the heel of a boot or shoe. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of same. Figs. 3-and 4 are views of the movable plate B. Figs. 5 and 6, are views of the stationary plate A. Figs. 7 and 8 are views of the screw C.
To enable others to make and use our in vention, we will proceed with a description,
Our inventionreiers to a simple, easy, and neat mode of fastening creepers to the heels of boots and shoes.
The plate A is made with holes for screws, to allow it to be firmly secured to the heel, and also a hole for screw C to be screwed into. It also has a projection for the support of plate B, so as to relieve the strain from screw wearer from slipping. The teeth can be ofany convenient length or shape.
Screw C is made with a grooved head, to allow it to be screwed in with the fingers without the aid of a screw-driver. Aside from these particulars the creepers may be made of ordinary metals, such as cast, wrought, or malleable metals.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:
The combination of the plate A, provided with projections, and plate B and screw 0, substantially as described.
