This invention relates to improvements in electrical warp stop motions and it is the general object of the invention to provide an improved form of electrical Contact bar to be used with a drop wire which may be employed either for electricalvory mechanical indication. v
One well-known form of mechanical Warp stop motion which has gone into extensive use'is that employing a drop wire'having in the upper part thereof a slot the top of which is restricted for the vpurpose of preventing oscillation of a normally vibrating detector rod, such a drop Wire and motion being shown in reissue patent to Regan No. 14,829. The usual form of electric contact bar in cludes an upwardly projecting live electrode to be located Within a drop wire'slot lto engage an inclined surface thereof. In such motions the live electrode is accessibleA not only tothe fallen drop wire but tothe tools or foreign matter which may fall .across them. n
` It is animportant obj ect of my present invention'to inclose the live electrode so that all but a small surface thereof will be guarded and at the same time proportion the live and shielding or grounded electrodes so as to cooperate with a drop Wire of the Regan t e. l
"yhe drop Wires are arranged in parallel banks separated by relatively heavy bars and it is another object of my invention so to relate the separator bars and the electrodes of the contact bar that when a drop wi'reis in its maximum angular position with` regard to its normal vertical axis there will be no opportunity for electrically connecting the two parts of the contact bar unless a drop Wire be fallen. In such an arrangement it is not necessary that the live electrode shall lie entirely Within the outline of the inclosing electrode, but it is desirable that it shall v project somewhat beyond the top of the shielding electrode so thatby a camming Vaction resulting from the restricted top of the drop Wire slot the two electrodes may be connected.
With these and other objects in viewwhich will appear as the description proceeds, my
invention results in the combination andarrangementrof parts yhereinafter described and set forth in the claims.

The shield is clamped between adjacent units and therefore held to the loom frame.
The live .element 30 has a lower vertical portion 31 lying between the lower vertical wall 26 andthe vertical part 22 of thefshield and hasran outwardly bent portion 32 provided with a surface 33 located preferably beyond the topedge or? surface '127 of theV n shield electrode. rVThe upper edgeof the live.-
contact is located between the parts 22 and 27 so 'that said live electrode-is'held against transverse motion in all directions with rev spect to the shield. Any suitableform 'of insulation such as properlyprepared oiled l.sheetsof paper 40 shownlin'Fig. 2 may be Vemployed to separate lthe live and grounded electrodes of the bar.
Under normal conditionswith the drop wire in the'position shown in Fig. 2 the warpv W will support the drop wire so that the same will be out 4ofcontact with'the live electrode. Thel rounded portion 25 of the shield electrode may have contact with the inner edge 50 of the'slot 5l of the drop wire D without danger ofclosinga circuit. Theusualrestricted part 5212i the drop wire slot defines` a shoulder 53 which effectively separates the edge 5,0 from the live electrode. It will also be seen that the live electrode projects beyond the upper part of the shielding electrode and is the means by which lateral movement of the drop wire iseflected to connect the kbar electrodes electrically. Furthermore, because of the relation between 'the separator bars 16 and theA componentv parts of the contact bar the drop wire will be hold from ever electrically connecting the two electrodes'so Vlong asthe drop wire is held in raised position.- Also,V in bothfi-forms of the invention a projection extending 'later- Vally from thefou'ter electrode holds the edge 50A ofthe drop lwire from Contact with the live electrode; 'In both forms of the invention the lateral extension, whether the round-k ed vedge 25 or edge 60, is soplaced relatively l to the separator bars as to permit nalateral movement of the drop wire in the direction of said lateral extension when .they shoulder 53 engages the live electrode-.lv 1 y Having thus described my invention; it willbe seen that changes and. modifications may be madetherein by those skilled inv the art without departing 'from' the lspirit andl scope of the invention and I do not wishzto be limited to the .details herein disclosed, but what I claim is: y `l. In an electrical warp stopV motion having a plurality of individually removable supporting units, a contact bar for each unit having two insulated oppositely charged electrodes one on one lateral face of the bar and the other on the other lateral face of thebar, one of the electrodes extending around both edges of the other electrode, and a drop wire having a slot through which the bar passes, said slot having a lower wide part and an upper narrower part, the distance between the aforesaid lateral faces being less than the width of the lower part of the slot and greater than the width of the upper part of the slot.

In an electrical warp stop motion having a. plurality of individually removable supporting units, a live electrode, a grounded electrode .with an exposed surface and eX- tending around the edges of the live electrode and formed to expose a surface to the latter, a drop wire having a slot through which the electrodes pass, the slot having an upper part trode, said means being formed as part of and projecting laterally from the grounded elec-l trode, the said exposed surface of the live electrode lying within the outline of the grounded electrode.

In an electrical warp stop motion having a plurality of individually kremovable sup-"V` porting units, a live electrode, a grounded electrode with an exposed surface and ex: tending around the edges lof the liveelectrode and formed to expose a surface of the latter, a drop wire havingl a vslot through which the electrodes pass, the slot having an upper part narrower than the distance between the surfaces of the electrodes and a lower part wider than said distance, the drop wire when fallen electrically connecting the surfaces, and means to hold that part of the drop wire near the lower part of the slot normally spaced fromthelive electrode, said means being formed as part of and projecting laterally from the grounded electrode and located below the live electrode surface.
