As shown in Fig.;6, each rim-segment 14 has its stem portion slidable through a collar 25 which is provided with a recess 25a. The shank 14a is formed separately from the segment and` has a reduced threaded extremity which ensecured in position by a set screw 28 whose f Yto follow-the wedge-blocks.

In practice, the crank-equipped shaft 21 may extend across the machine A; or it may, in any event, be of sufficient length to enable the crank wheel 21b to beoperated from the side ofthe machine opposite thatA shown in Fig. 1.
The radius on which the segments 14 are struck maycorrespond with a circle about midway between the innerV and outer limits of expansion of the pulley.
