This invention relates to improvements in Axminster tube frames and it is the general obj ect of the invention to provide such a device with a sliding latch which is substantial in construction and can be readily replaced if damaged.
Acxminster looms operate with a plurality of tube frames which are presented one at a time to tuft forming position. rI`he frames are detachably connected to transporting chains by latches which may either be pivoted to or slide on the tube frame. lIt is usual construction to provide that part of the bracket or hanger of the tube frame which engages the chain with a slot through which the latch extends. It is an'important object of my invention to make this part of the bracket solid and to dispose the latch outside of the arm, making the same with two upright portions, one lying on each side of the arm. In this way I provide a bracket having an arm with increased strength.
The brackets may comprise a pair of arms which extend into and are secured to opposite walls of theV tube frame carrier bar, and
the ends of these arms'arebent toward each other to assist in defining .a guide for the sliding hook. There is also formed on thev .bracket a spool bearing which extends upj vention,
wardly from the carrier bar. Object of my present invention to form the latch with a slot Vtherethrough sufficiently large to receive the spool bearing, to the end that the latch may be slid in a directionaway from thel chain engaging, arm and over the spool bearing for the purposes of removal. T he bent ends of the pair of arms extending into the tube frame may be spread apart somewhat to facilitate this removal.
With these and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resides in the combination and arrangement of part-s hereinafter described and set forth in the claims.A j

The spool S is supported by the bearing 13 and is provided with the usual colored tuft forming yarns not shown which project through the tuft tubes The arms 14 and 16 may havetheir vleft hand ends as viewed in Fig., i1 bent down- Wardly and upwardly, respectively, as at v20 and 21, ,and there may be, located against the inner .face of these ends a guide plate 22 slotted as at 23 .to have sliding and guiding engagement with a tongue 24 around which is disposed a coil compression spring 25.
In carrying my invention into effect I form Vthe arm 15 without` a slot as suggested in Varms at present in use. A latch is formed of a singlepiece of metal and has the, upper end provided with an end shaped as a hoo-k 31 to overlie one ofthe links'18. Extending downwardly from the hook are two arms 32 and 33 which asviewed in Fig. 2 live tothe right and left, respectively, of the chain engaging arm. ,These arms define Vbetween then bent inwardly to forma horizontal slide a spool bearing arm also projecting from the bar, and a latch movably mounted on the bar and having the upright portion thereof in thev form of an elongated closed ring which surrounds the arms7 the upper part of the latch engaging the chain and both sides of the ring supporting the tube frame. l 4

chain engaging arm projecting from the bar, a spool bearing arm also projecting from the bar, two supporting members lying outside the chain engaging arm and having supporting relation with respect to the bar and having holding engagement with respect to the chain.

In a tube frame for an Axminster loom having a transporting chain, a carrier bar, a chain engaging arm projecting from the bar, a spool bearing arm also projecting from the bar, the chain engaging arm being solid and imperforate, and a `tube frame supporting latch movably mounted with respect to the bar and having a pair of spaced members projecting substantially parallel to the chain engaging arm and held in supporting relation with respect to the chain.

In a tube frame for an AXminster-loom having a transporting chain,y a` tubular bar having longitudinally extending slots therein, spool bearing and chain engaging arms fixed to the bar, and a latch to engage the chain and surrounding the part of the bar above said slots and extending through the latter into the bar, said latch being slidable in the slots.

In a tube frame for an Axminster loom having a transporting chain, a tubular bar having longitudinally extending slots therein7 spool bearing and chain engaging arms fixed to the bar, a latch formed as a closed ring surrounding the chain engaging arm and having the lower part thereof extended into thebar through the slots and having sliding engagement with the latter, and a chain engaging hook-on the latch yieldingly held over a portion of the chain.
13. In a tube frame for an Axminster loom operating with a transporting chain, a carrier bar, a chain engaging arm fixed to the bar, a latch movably mounted on the bar and surroimding the arm and having an openingr therein, and a spool supporting'arm also Xed to the bar and smaller than the opening in the latch, said latch being movable away a from the chain engaging arm and over the spool supporting arm.
