vide a door stop of the character described which will be simple in construction, strong, durable, eflicient and reliable in operation, attractive in appearance and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is a view in top plan of a door showing a door stop in accordance with this invention mounted in position thereon.
Figure 2 is a view in side elevation of a door stop in accordance with this invention.
Figure 3 is a view in front elevation of the door stop showing the resilient foot or pad in vertical cross section.
Figure 4 is a detail view in perspective of an abutment which may be used if desired under certain circumstances.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the reference numeral 1 designates a substantially oval metallic plate which is rigidly mounted on the outer side of the door 2 adjacent the lower end of said door by screws 3 which are countersunk in the plate 1. The plate 1 is provided with the inturned marginal flange 4 which abuts the door 2.
Apertured, opposed ears 5 are struck out from an intermediate portion of the plate 1. A yoke constituting a keeper and designated by the reference numeral 6 has inturned trunnions 7 turned inwardly on its ends and jour- 59 naled in the ears 5, one of the trunnions 7 terminating in an offset end portion 8. The offset portion 8 provides a crank with which a flat spring 9 is operatively engageable, said spring 9 being mounted on an upper portion of the plate 1 by the screws 10, a spacing block 11 being interposed between the plate and the spring. The crank pin 8 and the spring 9 are so arranged that the keeper 6 will be maintained in its raised or inoperative position when desired, as indicated in broken lines in Figure 2, or yieldingly maintained in its lowered or operative position as indicated in full lines in said Figure 2.
A resilient pad or foot 12, preferably of rubber is mounted on the free end portion V of the keeper 6, said pad or foot being provided with a socket 13 for the reception of the keeper and being mounted thereon through. the medium of a removable bolt 14 which extends transversely through the pad 7 or foot and. through the bight portion of the keeper.
Should it be desired to eliminate the resilient pad or foot 12, an angular abutment 15 may be provided for engagement by the keep- 7 5 er 6 to provide a positive stop. The angular abutment 15 is provided with an opening 16 for the passage of a securing element (not shown) for anchoring the abutment to the 7 floor. It is understood, of course, that the upstanding portion of the abutment 15 is not high enough to interfere with the swinging of the door 2.
It is believed that the many advantages of a door stop in accordance with this invention will be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is A door stop comprising a plate having a pair of apertured ears struck up therefrom, a substantially U-shap-ed brace member hav ing its ends inturned and journalled in the apertures of said ears, one of the inturned ends of the brace member being offset to form a crank, said crank being disposed between the ears to prevent accidental displacement of the member, a flat spring attached at one end to the plate with its free end engaging said crank to secure the brace member in a raised or lowered position and a foot for the brace member comprising a rubber block having a recess for receiving the bight portion of the brace member and aremovable pin in serted through the block for securing the block to said member. o
