This invention relates to improvements in display cards for articles to be sold which are usually attached to such cards, and more particularly to display cards for that class of articles which are to be sold in lots rather than singly without being rst detached from the card, the latter thus constituting a convenient carrier for the articles which may be slipped into an ordinary envelope when delivered to the purchaser.

The particular object of the invention is to provide a display card of the above-mentioned type which permits of easy assembly of the same with the articles to be displayed thereon and sold therewith and which, additionally, is equipped with a locking or latch element which serves to prevent detachment of the articles from the card vuntil said latch or locking device has been removed.

The card of the present invention is designed and intended particularly to carry electric wiring clips and to so engage the clips that the latch or locking element above referred to may advantageously consist of a piece of insulated wire or an imitation thereof which will, while performing its function as such latch or locking element, also serve to illustrate and demonstrate the manner of use of the clip.

The display card of this invention is, as

above indicated, intended to carry a plurality of electric wiring clips7 each of which comprises a flat shank l, a curved formation 2, and a terminal lip 3.

In use, the shank l of the clip is adapted to be inserted between the base board or picture molding or other trim, and the plaster .passes through the opening 9 as shown in .Wall 0f a room. n Wiu 10i-.noted amine lip 8 is odset from the plane of the shankl l so that in use, the latter will extend somewhat angularly to the .plane of the wall` upon which the lip 3 bears.' Thus when the shank C55 is. forced into thefcrack between trim and plaster, it will be flexed and thus frictionally held in place. l

The portion of the cardlying between the incision 7 and the opening 9 constitutes aS second bridge-element 10. The length of the incision 7 and the width of the tongue 6 and opening 9 are preferably identical with the width of the clip.

In use, the shank l of the clip is inserted i@ from the rear face of the card 4 through the incision 7 and then passes over the bridgey element8 and underneath the tongue 6.l The latter may,however, be omitted to provide a rectangular opening below lthe bridge- 795V element 8.

This movement of the shank 1 of the clip is Y continued until the portion 2 of the same Fig. 4. j

The clip is now firmly frictionally held in place on the card and, after the whole group of clips corresponding to the number of sets of said incisions, etc., has been similarly mounted on the card, a short piece of material 11 simulating insulated copper Wire or flexible cord, is passed through the loop portions 2 of the clips and is secured tothe card by cementing or other suitable means.

The clips are thus practically klocked against removal from the card V-except by destroying the latter or Inarring it as .by detaching the member 11, the latter perform'- ing simultaneously the aforesaid locking function and, additionally, illustrating and demonstrating quite clearly the manner of use of the clips.

Obviously the specific details of construction of the display card may be modified and varied to adapt the same for display of other articles Without departing from the invention as defined in the appended claims.

I claim `as my invention:

, 1. A display card for electric Wiring clips of the kind specified, equipped with an opening adapted to receive the loop formation of the clip, a pair of slots through which the shank of the clip is passed, and a retaining member secured'to the card and spanning said opening, Within the loop formations of said clips.

2. A merchandise package vcomprising fa card provided with a series of sets of formations each including an opening. anda pair of parallel slots spaced from said opening, an electric Wiringclip associated With'each set of said formations and including a flat Yshank portion extending through-and engaged in said slots, a loop orihook'portion projecting through said opening, anda lip portion, the latter and a part of said shank engaging the rear face of the cardat opposite ends of said opening and-said loop portion projectingfrom the front face ofthe card, and a retainingbar spanning the several openings within the loop portions of said lip and secured to Nthefront face'of the card.
