My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a washing apparatus adapted particularly for washing glasses, bottles, and similar articles. It is an object of the 5 present invention to provide a washing apparatus whereby flowing water may be used to rotate the cleaning member and at the same time serve to rinseand clean the article being washed.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an apparatus of this class in which a portion of a stream of flowing water may be directed into the vessel being washed and a portion of the flowing water 15 used for rotating the cleaning mechanism.
Another object of the invention is the provision in a washing apparatus of this class of a turbine driven cleaning member which may also serve as a spray conductor.
Another object of the invention is the provision in a device of this class of a control device whereby the stream of water delivered to the vessel being washed may be controlled and the movement of the movable 25 cleaning member simultaneously regulated.
Another obj ect of the invention is the provision of a device of this kind which will be simple in structure, economical of manufacture, and highly efficient in use.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

opening or passage 8 is formed in the head 7 and a bushing 9 is pressed into the passage Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on line 8 as a press fit. -A chamber 10 is formed in the head 7. A tubular tting 11 is threaded into the head and provided with the coupling 12 whereby attachment to a faucet may be made to supply water under pressure, the device beingadapted for coupling to thecity pressure supply of water. Positioned in-the bushing 9 and rotatable therein is an inner bushing 13. A supporting post 14 is rotatably mounted in the bushingv 13. FiXedly mounted on the end of the post 14 is a hub 15 radiating outwardly from which are the turbineblades 16. Passages 17 which are inclined to the horizontal serve to permit the passage of water from the chamber 10 against the turbine blade 16. A cylindrical housing or shell18 serves as a closure for the turbine blades and also as a support for theapparatus. The post 14 is formed tubular at its upper portion so as to communicate through the passage 19 formed in the fitting 20 with lthe tubular arm 21 which extends upwardly .therefrom and which is preferably tapered and provided with a spray nozzle 22 at its upper end to which are secured one end of the chains 23; A circumferential recess 24 is formed on the inner surface of the bushing 13 which communicates with the radial openings 25 formed in this bushing. The fitting .11 is secured-in the head 7 so as to discharge water into the passage 26 from which it may pass through the openings 27 formed in the outer or stationary bushing 9. Through the .openings 25 into the recess 24 from which it may pass through the opening 28 formed in 4the bushing 9 into the chamber 10 a part of 29 into the tubular portion of the post 14 and `thence upwardly through the tubular member 21. A rod 30 is secured to the head 31 of the bushing 13 so that the bushing 13 may be rotated relatively to the bushing 9 so as yto bring the openings 25 out of registration with the openings 27 and 28 which are formed in the bushing 9. In this way the bushing 13 serves as a valve to regulate the flow of water into the chamber 10 and into the member 21. A locking ring 32 is provided with a resilient ring 33v for locking the post 14y against axial movement while at the same time permitting its free rotation within the bushing 13.
After water is delivered through the fitting 11 and the bushing 13 turned to bring the opening 25 into registration with the opening 27 water will issue into the recess portion 24 from which it will pass into the member 21 and into the chamber lO. The water passing into the chamber 10 will pass out through the passages l17 so as to rotate the turbine head, thus eecting a rotation of the member 21. A glass bottle or other article pressed in inverted relation on the member 21 will be easily and quickly cleaned by being brought into contact with the cleaning'chains 23 and also because of the spray oi' water which will issue from the member 2l.
It has been found that with this device coupled to the ordinary city pressure water supply the arm 21 may be rotated at a high speed and sutiicient water will be supplied to provide an ample, spray for rinsing and cleansing purposes. c
It is believed obvious that the device is of a compact nature and may be economically manufactured.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as. new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A device of the class described, comprising:- a head, a bushing mounted in said head; said head having a chamber formed therein ,a second bushing rotatably mounted in said first mentioned bushing, said, bushings having openings formed therein adapted for registering upon rotation of said second mentioned bushing to a pre-determined position; a conduit for delivering liquid into said head, said head having a passage leading from said conduit to said openings` in said bushings asupporting post rotatably mounted concentrically of said second bushing and having openings formed therein communicating with an internal recess formed in said second bushing in communication with the openings formed in said second bushing, said supporting post being tubular at and above said openings; a tubular arm mounted on the upper end of said post and projecting upwardly therefrom; a turbine wheel carried on the lower end of said post,` said head having passages formed therein for directing water from said chamber against said turbine or rotating said post.

A device of the class described comprising: a head having a chamber formed therein; a bushing rotatably Ymounted in said head and. having an internal groove coma turbine kwheel mounted on the lower end f of said tubular member, said head having passages formed therein for directing water from said chamber against said wheel for rotating. the same.V
