Description

April 26; 1932. J. T. DALTON LAMP BRACKET FOR LIDS OF TALKING MACHINE CABINETS Filed Nov. 17, 1931 J- T Dalian,
as shown at 12.
Patented Apr. 26, 1932 PATENT caries JULIUS T. DALTON, OF J ENKINJ' ONES, WEST VIRGINIA.
LAMP BRACKET FOR LIDS OF TALKING MACHINE CABINETS Application filed November 17, 1931.
The invention relates to a lamp bracket for attachment to the lids of talking machine cabinets such as phonographs, radio receiving sets, and the like, and has for its object the provision of a bracket that is adapted to be readily attached to the inside of the lid of the cabinet to provide illumination to enable an operator to adjust the instrument when located in a poorly illuminated position.
The invention will be described in detail hereinafter and will be found illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is an elevational view, partly broken away and in section, of a talking machine cabinet, showing the improved bracket applied to the inner side of the lid;
Figure 2 is a side view of the bracket on an enlarged scale;
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional View of the bracket;
Figure 4 is a top plan view;
Figure 5 is a similar view with the cover plate therefor removed; and
Figure 6 is a transverse sectional view' on a plane indicated by the line 66 of Figure 5. y
In the drawings similar reference characters are used to designate corresponding parts in all of the views.
As heretofore stated the invention is a lamp bracket for use in connection with the lids of talking machine cabinets and in Figure 1 a cabinet is shown at A, having a hinged lid B, said cabinet being adapted to house the operative parts of a talking machine including a motor housed in casing C and a disk carrier 1). A radio receiving set may also be I housed in cabinet A in the chamber E, a housing for said set being designated F and ineluding an outlet electric wiring socket G of conventional type.
The bracket designed to carry an electric lamp is shown at 10 in Figure 1 and is adapted to be secured in any suitable manner to the inner side of the lid B, and the electric cable 11 for supplying current to the lamp is also carried by said lid and extended downward into the cabinet and plugged into socket G,
Serial No. 575,624.
Bracket 10 is shown in detail in Figures 2 to 6. inclusive, and includes a base plate 13 provided with a longitudinal groove 14, to receive the cable 11, and provided with an enlargement 15 that receives the casing 16 of a conventional electric switch of a type employin g a rotatable switch button 17.
The end of base 13, through which the enlarged portion 15 of the groove 14 emerges, is provided with a curved recess 18 to receive a lamp socket support consisting of spaced disks 19 and 20 that are recessed as shown to receive the socket 21, 22 indicating a metal strap secured to said disk and to the adjacent edges of the base 10. 23 designates the wires connecting the switch members in the casing 16 with the socket, said wires being retained between disks 19 and 20.
- A lamp bulb 24 is shown mounted in socket 21 in the usual manner, and 25 designates a globe covering said bulb and held in position by a ring 26 secured to disk 20.
A cover for the groove 14 and its enlargement 15, is shown at 28, and is secured to base 13 by driven fastenings, as shown at 29, or in any other suitable manner. Cover 28 is provided with an opening 30 to receive the operating button 17 of the switch. 7
It will be apparent that the invention provides a utility for the lids of the talking machines and for other purposes that-may be readily installed and connected with a convenient electric socket outlet, either as shown and above described, or in any location, and is also adapted to be included as an accessory of talking machines, etc., when manufaet tured.
I claim:
1.. A lamp bracket attachment for the lids of talking machines, comprising a base, spaced disks secured to said base, a lamp socket carried by said disks, conductor wires contor wires connected to said socket and engaging between the disks, the base being provided with a groove to receive said wires and having an enlargement adjacent to the disks, a switch member mounted in the enlarged portion of the groove and connected with said wires, the switch member including an operating part extending outwardly of the member, and a cover plate for the groove and member secured to said base and having an opening for receiving said operating part.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JULIUS T. DALTON.
