This invention relates to a toy having a double use, and the principal objects of the invention are to provide an attractive representation, of an animal, bird, or the like in the t shape of a toy, which also has a cavity in the body of the toy, shaped like a slipper; so that children can wear this toy on the feet, or can push the toy around the iloor for their amusement; and to provide a life-like repre- H sentation of an animal by the way in which the parts are sewed together, giving certain parts the representation of a pair of paws merely by the way in which the parts are connected.

Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1, showing another form in which the invention can be carried out.

In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the toy is shown as representing a sheep. It consists of a fiat bottom oi some soft form of leather or fabric, and preferably of a piece :ia ot' lamb skin with the wool on top. To the edges of this are sewed the sides 11, also formed of lambs wool, with the wool outside. This sewing is accomplished. by turning the lower edges of. the sides 11 outwardly into :i5 contact with the bottom 10, and applying a binding 12 around the joint, and then sewing through the four thicknesses to form a line of stitches 13 around the bottom. The sides extend upwardly a sufficient distance and are turned in at the top and the turned in portion 14 is connected all around to the correspending side by a horizontal line of stitches l5. The two sides are sewed together at the extreme rear end by ay vertical line of stitchm ing at 16, if desired, or it can be made in one piece without this line of stitches.

A piece of lambs wool 17 is sewed at the rear at the top and hangs down the desired distance to represent the tail of the particular 50 animal shown. This serves to cover this line of stitches 16 at least part way down and conceal them. On the front the two sides are also sewed together by a vertical line of stitches at 18. The seam 18 extends up under the head to the point 19- y 55 A head is formed by two pieces 2O of the same shape with the wool outside and sewed together by a central peripheral line of stitches all the way around. This is stuffed with cotton, or it may constitute an air bag and be lilled with air. These sides 20 eX- tend below the head proper and are cut on a curvature and secured to the sides 11 by a curved line of stitches 2l. Thus there is a layer of material under the head. It will be seen that the part below the horizontal portion of the line oi stitches 21 on both sides will represent the legs and paws of the animal.

This article can be made to represent many desired animals or birds, and it furnishes an attractive toy for children as the two sides 11 at the top can be grasped by the hand of the child and serve as a handle to move the toy around. It also has a flat bottom on which it rests, of such a Wide area that it does not easily tip over. Furthermore the article can be used as a slipper, as an opening is provided in the top between the two sides 11 from the head back to the tail for the insertion of the foot, and the part below the head `is of less height so that it will serve to receive the toes of the child.

In the form shown in these two figures the bottom 10 serves as the sole of the slipper and it has lambs wool on `topfor the com` 85 fort of the user. Also the inturned edge 14 is provided with a woolly surface on the inside, further making the article very comfortable when used as a slipper.

This toy does not need to be made of lambs wool and in Fig. 3 I have shown a part of a toy made on the same principle in which the same numbers are used to indicate corresponding parts, but in this case the material used can be either soft leather or textile fabric. Marks or lines of stitches 22 can be employed to indicate the toes on the paws of the toy.

Although I have illustrated and described only two forms of the invention I am aware of the fact thatrother changes can be made therein by any person skilled in the art without departing from the sco-pe of the invention as expressed in the claims. Therefore I do not wish to be limited to the two forms shown, but what I do claim is 1. As an article of manufacture, a toy comprising a flat bottom, sides extending up from the bottom and separated from each other to provide a space therein in which the foot can be placed, and a head representing an animal formed of two additional pieces of material sewed together valong a peripheral seam and having means for forcing the sides apart and into convex shape to properly rep resent the head of the animal, this head part p having extensions below the vhead cut on a curved line and sewed to the sides, the parts of the sides below said additional pieces extending to the front of said additional pieces to represent the paws of the animal.

As an article of manufacture, a. toy comprising a flat bottom of lambs skin having the wool thereon and projecting from the top'v thereof, a pair of sides sewed to the bottom "all around the edge formed of lambs skin with the wool outside projecting up to the top where it is turned over and sewed at a point below the upper edge thus forming an Y opening at the upper edge lined with lambswool, and a head consisting of two pieces of lambs skin with the wool outside, of curved shape at the bottom when sewed to the sides at aV distance from said bottom, whereby the Y. sides below this head will represent the paws of the animal, the lambs wool at the sides and head representing the hair of the ani'- mal represented'.

3. As an article of manufacture, a toy com ,prising a flat bottom of lambs skin having the wool thereon and proj ecting, from the top thereof, a pair of sides sewed to the bottom all around the edge formed of lambs skin with the wool outside projecting up to the .top where it is turned over and sewedl at a point below the upper edge, thus formingan opening at the upper edge lined with -lambs wool, and a head consisting of two pieces of lambs skin with the wool outside,'the lambs wool at the sides and head representing the hair of the animal represented.
