n p The object offthis invention is to provide i an improved shipping container arranged to have an address card reversibly mounted thereon so that when the container is shipped it may be returned yto the sender by reversing` n i the address card. Y
Y A further objectlof the invention is to p ro#v vide a simple and ecient means fork holding the reversible address Cardin place onthe jivcutside ofthe container.v e y f l More specifically myinvention relates tor a means Wherebythe reversible addresscard Y is held in place by strapswhich also serve to hold the cover Yin placeon the container.V
i With these and'other objects in,vieW,iny
` linvention consists in the construction, ar-
rangement and combinations of the'various parts of my device, whereby the ,objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more 23 fully set forth, pointed out in my claims, and
illustrated inthe accompanying drawings, in
Which Y igurel is a perspective vievvfillustrating y 'the preferred formv ofmy invention. i Figure 2 is a sectional view` in perspective illustrating particularly one means for em'- n ployinga strap to hold the reversible address card'in places? 1' Y Figure 3 is a perspective-*view of ya shipnu container'embod vin a modied fornir of means yfor holdingthe address Card.y
Figures 4 and 'are opposite facevievvs Y of the reversible address card employed inl the structure illustrated Vin Figures l and 2.
v In thetaccompanyng dra-Wings have ernf ployed the reference numerallO to designate j r a box or container havinga flanged. cover r `rmember 12' engaging. the saine in telescopic relation. The container 10 and its coverf12 3- may bel formed "ofcardboard, fibre board or f other suitable material 'embodying ystrenggth 5 and lightness-aofzvveight. Y
A *plurality jof straps, in this instanceftwo y y `Vin number and designated bythe numerals 14 and 16, are employed primarilyfor hold'- ingthe covery 12 in place on vthe v'container 10. According to the form illustratedy in Fig ures land 2', a pocket 18-is mounted inlany Suitable locationonv theishipping container.
` may ylo I Y Y Y, lmoval inasmuch assaid straps are ordinarily As here shown the pocket is located adjacent one of the longer.niarg'gins of the cover 121i` i The pocket 18 maybe composed of a rectan` guiar vstrip or framework of fibre board or other. suitable materiallixed'at, three of its margins'by means'o'f rivets'20' or lother 's'uit-V 55 able meanstoth'e container; The fourth side o of; the packet not; attached "in any manner y,but open Afor thefreinoval and replacement' of tlieii'eversible addresscard 22.` vThe face ,o

Each side ofthe address card 22 may also heprovided with' ai blank space suchk as 32 for receiving postagestamps.
This v-arrangenent inalr'esit'iconvenie'nt to employlthe container :for makii'igv 'shipments Y suceessilvei'yfbetween two-different peintsby i simply reversing the yaddress Card ,alteachfi' Y endofthe route Yand providingfit `ivit'lfi unil' used postagestamps. f

Inthis-Way, the strapsserve the additionaly `functionof preventing accidental removal@ ofthe card andi'insurethat it WillV remain 95 "thereinffduring shipment, The card cannotfV readilyf be removedgand replaced luntil the strapslki and 16j have been loosened for re-` drawn quitevtightly to hold the cover kl2 in;
place. In the modified form shown in Figure 3V the pocket is not employed, but the stra s 14 and 16 are used as the sole means `for liolding the address card in place.
'6 According to this const-ruction the address card 36 is formed near one end Withrspaced slots 38 through which the strap 14 is threaded and near the other end with spaced slots 40 through which the strap 16 is threaded. When the card 36 is mounted in this manner on the straps 14 and 16 and ,the straps are placed in position about the container and its cover member, the address card is effectively held in the desired posi.
15 tion and cannot be removed when the straps are fast. In this form itis, of course, necessary, in reversing the'address card, to entirely remover it from the straps and rethread the straps in such manner that the other face of the card will be disclosed. y,
It willr be noted that according to both forms the straps 14 and 16 are employed not only for holding the cover member 12 on the container for enclosing the container for shipment, but also employed for holding the reversible address card in the yproper selected position relative to the container.
Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts of 3 my device, Without departing from the real y spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claims, any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents, which may be reasonably included Within their scope.
I claim as my invention:
1.In a shipping container, a box and a cover therefor, flexible straps for holding the cover in place, an address card, strips 40,fastened to the container for engaging marins of said card, said flexible straps, when 1n position for holding said cover, also vbeing positioned to engage and prevent removal ofY the address card relative to the strips of the container- K 2. In a shipping container, a box and a cover therefor, flexible straps for holding the cover in place, a reversible address card, a pocket carried by the ,container formed with an open side for removal and replacement of said address card, said straps also overlying the open side of saidpocket to prevent accidental removal of'said card Des Moines, Iowa, August 27, 1929.`
