My invention relates to improvements in tents and is particularly adapted to tents for play rooms, nurseries, and for use by children and the like, though it may be u sed in connection with larger tents. One ob]ect of m invention is to provide a tent which will be easily assembled and disassembled, which may be erected without pins or tie ropes and which will provide an entirely clear and 1o unobstructed area throughout the entire tent enclosed by the walls thereof. pOther objects will appear from time to time in the course of the specification and claim.
I illustrate my invention more or less diagrammatically in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a. perspectlve of the tent;

Referring iirst to the preferred form shown in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive the tent frame is made up of two straight bars A, A1 hinged together by a iixed hinge A2. There are two v 40 pairs of these bars assembled to make a rectangular frame and the two frame members are `joined by a releasable hinge A3 having a l removable hinge pin A4. The frame members A1 are each centrally socketed and adapt- 4.5 ed to receive pins A5 on the lower ends of the two tent poles A6 which poles are hinged permanently at their upper ends at A7 and have inclined abutting surfaces A8 to limit their angular displacement so that the two surfaces A8 come together as shown in Fig- .on the hookless fastener member to slide it 1931. The tent is made up of three continuous triangular panels B, and one triangular panel B1 which is slotted as indicated in line with the center ot the panel and the apex of the tent. In line with an angle joining each two triangular sides are grommets B2 which grommets may be hooked over ins B3 on the frame, the frame being pre 'erably chamfered as indicated as at B1r so that the pin may come out through the grommet general- 1y at right angles to the line of tension along the corner of the tent between the grommet and the apex. The two opposed 6 edges of the slit ot the triangular wall B1 are associated with a hookless fastener B5 having operating handles B8 inside and outside, the canvas at one side of the slit being provided with a grommet B associated with al pin B7 on the frame. This slit provides the door to the tent. The grommet B5 and pin B7 are provided so as to hold the wall of the tent down to permit the operator to pull up along the tent and permit separation of the two opposed edges. Assuming that the hookless fastener locking mechanism is at the top of its excursion the two edges of the panel B1 may swing apart to form an open door 8c and the whole canvas will as a result be more or less slack. If the hookless fastener is drawn down it will cam the two edges of the canvas together exerting a tension on the panel B1 which tension will be transmitted through the other panels peripherally to make the tent tight.
In the modified form shown in Figure 5 the four frame members instead of being hinged together are provided each with an overlapping lug C rigidly mounted at the end of each frame member. The lug is apertured at C1 in register with an aperture C2 in the opposed frame member and a pin C3 may pass through the registering holes to hold the frame in position. The corners of the frame are chamfered as indicated at C4 and the pin C5 is placed at the chamfered portion of the ends of the two side frame bars C6. The bars C7 which carry the mem- Y. bers C are also apertured at C' to engage the lll tent poles so that when the canvas .is ut in place the tension on the canvas wil hold the bar C up against the under side of the member lC and allowA the whole tent tobe lifted as a unit.
In the modified form shown in Figures 6 to 9 inclusive the tent is an A tent instead of a yramid tent. Each frame half is made up o? three sections, an end section D and two Aside sections D1 D. Hinges Ds D* jointhe three sections so that they may be collapsed asindicated in Figure 7. The two 'se arate elements are adapted to be joined toget er by hinges D5 associated with removable pins D. The tension of the canvas locks the frames in line. The end sections D are a ertured as indicated at DT to be engage by pins D on the tent poles D. Pins D10 on the other end of the tent poles engage sockets Du'on the ridge pole D12. The relation of the two tent poles and the ridge pole with the canvas cover is suiicient to hold the entire tent in proper assembled relation.
The canvas cover in this case insteadl of being made up of four triangular sections is made up of two triangular end sections E E and a central rectangular section E1 joined to the two sides of the sections E and extending over the ridge pole. At one side of the tent the section E1. is slit as at E2 and associated with the hookless fastener E. Grommets E are at the corners of the tent associated with pins E5 on the frame. A grommet E6 adjacent the slit is l.associated with the pin E1 for the same purpose as pointed out 1n connection with the form shown in Figure 1.v The camming action of the hookless fastener is the same in'leach case. f
The use and operation of my invention is as follows: A
The tent is preferably shipped or stored in a bag. Inassembling, the tent and the frame work are withdrawn from the bag. The frame work is unfolded and arranged with the four sides of the loorvengaging frame assembled together to form a rectangular u-nit. The tent poles are inserted in the holes in the tent frame the poles meeting' at the top over the center line of the frame and held together by the hinge and abutting ends as indicated, the pins on the ends of the poles being thrust into the openings in the floor frame. Then the tent canvas is opened and placed over the tent poles with the peak at the apex of the poles. The four corners of the tent are thenfastened to the frame the grommets in the canvas being slipped over the four ins on the ioor frame, the two triangles p ormed in the canvas on the two sides of the tent where the oles are located providing sufficient strengt in tension to maintain the plane of the two poles perpen-y dicular to the plane of the floor frame. In the form of A tent shown the frame is made up of two grou of three sections each, one section exten across each end land two frame sections pivoted or hinged to form the laterale. The' canvas structure forms the bracing for the tent as before. The door in this case is located in the inclined central side of the tent.
