Patented Feb. 23, 1932 UNITED STATES ARTHUR C. FIFILS, OF ASTORIA, NEW 'YORK SHADE HOLDER Application led .Tune 18,
My invention relates to window shades and refers more particularly to a device for holding the window shade comparatively taut to prevent the same from blowing and making objectionable noises and for maintaining the same in the desired position.
One object of my invention is to provide a means for holding a window shade taut Linder pressure of the shade spring, and prevent the shade from flying out of the window.
Another object of my invention is to provide a cheap, simple device adapted to be attached to a window frame and having an adjustable means for holding the shade by attaching the device to the shade cord, pull or ring.
A further object of my invention is to provide a simple device for attaching to a window frame, adapted to slide back and forth and hold a window shade in various desirable positions.
I attain these objects preferably by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein similar numerals refer to like parts throughout the several views, in which Figure l is side elevation of a form of the device.
Figure 2 is a plan of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section taken on lines 3-3 of Figure 2.
In Figures 1, 2 and 3 the device consists of a base 32, provided with screw holes 33, 34, and 36 and this space is provided with a multiple of osets like 37, adapted to engage with a disc 38, which is also provided with a multiple of offsets 39, and this disc carries an arm 40, formed to provide a T slot 4l, within which the arm 42, with its hooked end 43 is adapted to slide back and forth and this arm is attached to the disc 39 by means of the rivets 47 and 48, and the two parts 38 and are pivotally held in the base 42 by means of the pivoted rivet 46.
Having thus illustrated and described the 1930. Serial No. 461,999.
preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction or arrangement of parts shown, since it is evident that modifications may be made therein, without departing from the spirit 50 of the invention or scope of the claims.
I claim l. A device for holding a window shade taut, comprised of a base pivotally carrying a disc with an arm Xed the-reto formed to provide a slot T shaped in cross section and an extension adapted to slide Within the T slot provided with a hooked end adapted to hold said shade.
2. A device for holding a window shade taut, comprised of a base having upsets therein and means to attach the same to an object, said base pivotally carrying a disc with upsets therein engageable with said base upsets, said disc holding an arm formed to provid-e a slotrT shaped in crosssection and an extension adapted to slide within said T slot provided with a hooked end adapted to hold the shade.
Signed at New York, county of New York, State of New York, this 14th day of June,
ARTHUR C. FIFILS.
