A further object is to provide a structure of the class hereinabove described which shall be simple, economical, light and compact.
With the above and other objects in view, which will more fully appear from the following specification and claim, the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts as more fully hereinafter described and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure II is an enlarged view of one-half of the supporting structure, portions being shown in longitudinal section.
' Figure III is a view of a portion of the structure adapted for use as a center pole.
Figure IV is a cross section on line H of Fig. II.
Figure V is a detail of the peak of the supporting structure.
Polygonal tents terminating in and supported at the peak are in common use, particularly for tourist purposes and such usage requires simplicity of construction as well as lightness and compactness and economy in the matter of expense.
It is a simple and common expedient to support such a tent at the peak by means of a center pole but the use of the center pole interferes with the full use of the comparatively restricted space within a tent of size convenient li or camping or tourist purposes and .it is, therefore, desirable, where full'use of the space Within the tent is required, to provide means for exteriorlysupporting the tent from its peak. Such exteriormeansofsupport, however, are more cumbersome and complicated than a simple centerpole.
It is the primary. object and purpose of the present inventiont'o provide within a single structure themean s for supporting the tent from the peak either from within the tent by a center pole or from without the tent by a suitable peak supporting structure.
Inorder to accomplish the objects hereinabove and hereafter set forth, I provide two poles formed of tubular sections suitably jointed, such poles being bent to generally conform toth'e outline of the tent from the ground tothe peak and the polesbeing adapt- 5 ed to join above the peak of the tent and means being provided for supporting the peak of the tent from said poles. In the drawings, the tent is indicated at l point of joinder of the two and one of the poles shown in Fig. II has a plurality of side sections Qand 3 and. a top section 4 with a bend 5 substantially opposite the eaves of the tent and means as hole 6 in the upper end thereof for receiving a bolt 7 7 for joining the two side poles together. The sections are: formed of metal tubing and one end of each section is adapted, preferably by crimping as clearly illustrated at Figs. 11
' and IV, to telescope into one end of the next section 9 meycorrespond with section 3. A
A hook 13 depends from the bolt 7 between the sections 4 and 8 of the supporting poles and from this hook the peak 14 of the tent is supported as by the looped rope 15.
For further steadying the tent, loops 16 may be provided at the eaves of the tent and these may be attached to the poles by suitable means as chains 17.
The lower end of the section 2 may be provided with a plug 2a for closing the end to prevent the entrance of dirt therein.
By this structure, as fully illustrated in Fig. I, the peak of the tent may be suphaving a pin adapted to be inserted in the ground and certain of said sections, including said bottom section, being adapted to be separated from said outside supporting structure and reassembled into a center pole for supporting the peak of a tent from within, said bottom section carrying said pin being adapted to form the top section of said center pole with said pin engaging the peak of the tent.

When it is not necessary to have the use of the entire space within the tent, that is, when the use of the center pole willnotbe obj ectionable, aportion of the above described structure may be taken and used as a center pole, section 2 being used as the bottom section of such center pole and sections 9 and 10 being reversed so that the crimp at the end of sec tion 9 will set into the upper end of section 2 and the pin ll'at the end. of section 10 will become the peak supporting pin at the upper end of the pole, all as clearly illustrated at Fig. III.
Any suitable means commonly used in the peak of the tent for receiving the pin on the center pole may beemployed for such use in this case and, such structures being of various kinds and well known, are not here specifically 1 shown. I
The use of the center pole formed as illustrated at Fig. 111, for supporting the peak of the tent on the inside thereof, is well understood and need 'not'be further here described. I
It will be understood that changes in detailsof construction maybe made within the spirit and scope of the specification and appended claim.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that this'structure for tent support may be very readily set up or taken down, both as to the support from the outside and as to the center pole structure and that it may be constructed of very light tubing and still have ample strength and rigidity for the purpose for which it is intended and that, by reason of its sectional construction of light tubing material, it may be put up in compact form for transportation and will be of comparatively small weight. g
