This invention relates to hair removin and drying apparatus particularly adapte for use within tonsorial and beauty parlors.

One of the principal objects of the inven '5: tion contemplates the provision and arran e ment of a reversible form of blower where y loose hair ma i be removed from the neck and clothing of Hi be blown against the hair andhead of the 10 patron to dry same after a shampoo in preference to the usual vi orous towel rubbing.

Another object the invention consists of a supporting apparatusfor the blower construction capable of being moved about from placevto place in juxtaposition to the chalrs or tables. An additional object of the invention embodies an adjusting means for the supporting apparatus and blower to facilitate disposing 0 the latter in position for use. More specifically stated the blower construction is provided with a valve structure automatically converting same into a hair suction device or heat emitting drying device.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further consists of the followin novel features and details of construction, to%)e hereinafter more fully described,-ill ustrated in the accompanying drawings and so pointed out in the appended claims.

struction and arrangement of an operating lever for the valve.

Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicatesgener'ally a cabinet of any desired ape orconstruction having supporting wheels 11 upon the bottom thereof and a door 12 within one side wall. A ball member 13 mounted for universal movement within the upper wall of the cabinet 10 is provided with a epending sleeve 14 preclable distance with1n th'e confines of the cabinet. A hair collecting or refuse container 15 preferably in the form of a'cloth bag and having a. tubular filling neck 16 therefor rigidly supported upon a bracket 17 mounted upon the adjacent wall of the cabinet is joined with the adjacent depending end of the sleeve 14 through the instrumentality of a flexible conduit or casing 18.

A sleeve member 19 passing axially through the ball member 13 and telescopically associated with the sleeve member 14 in the manner suggested in Figure 2 of the drawings is in communication at its upperrojecting for an ap-' most end with the discharge neck 20 of a form of casing 21 which will be hereinafter referred to as a hopper. Said hopper is suba partition wall 24. The latter mentioned wall having the fluted or flared end 25 of the blower nozzle 26 formed thereon in order that direct communication may be established through the bore of the nozzle 26 with the compartment 22. The latter mentioned construction is self-explanatory-in Figure 4 of the drawings.

A drum member 27 supported upon appropriate portions of the partition wall 24- and outerwall of the compartment 23 circumferentially of the nozzle 26*and flared end 25 thereof is provided with a covering 28 preferably in the nature of a screen or other foraminated air admitting material.

A heating coil 29 disposed within the drum 7 27 and controlled by a switch 30 isflin constant communication with the compartment upper portion of the hopper like casing 21 is wound in series with the switch 30 and coil 29 whereby the operator may tell at a glance,

by the illumination of the lamp 31, that the coil switch is on and that the coil in working order.

A blower wheel or fan, indicated generally as at B, has the buckets or blades therefor pitched or otherwise disposed in such manner as to constantly create suction through the bore of the nozzle 26. As shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings, the nozzle is rightangularly disposed outwardly and beyond the covering 28 'for the drum 27 for purposes to be better understood in the following description ofthe invention. The blower being operated by a motor 32 disposed within a casing 33 separate and apart from the casing 21 and upon the under side of the latter. A sep. arate switch 33 being provided for the motor and blower blade whereby the heater and blower may be independently controlled.

A valve member 34 having a pintle or hlnge pm 35 journaled within appropriate portions of the hopper like casing 21 is designed for lateral shifting movement to occupy the respective positions shown in Figtires 4 and 5 of the drawings. When the valve is disposed in a vertical position shown in Figure-4 of the drawings, the compartment 23 will be cut oil' from the compartment 22- whereby the air and hair will be drawn through the nozzle 26, downwardly through the reduced end 20 of the hopper like casing 21, through the telescopically associated sleeves 14 and 19 respectively, through the flexible conduit 18 and into the receptacle 15. (hen the valve 34 is shifted to occupy the Figure 5 position, the two compartments, namely, 22 and 23 respectively, will be in communication through a port 36 opened by the valve. Air will then be introduced through the nozzle 26 and directed downwardly through the compartment 22, through the port 36, upwardlythrough the compartment 23 heated by the coil 29 and ejected through the screen covering 28. An operating lever 37, carried upon the outermost extending end of the pin 25 of the valve 34 has connection with one end of a r'etractile spring 38 suitably anchored upon the casing 21 and designed to hold said lever in either the full or dotted line position shown in Figure 6 of the drawings due to the fact that the line of connection between the casing and lever for the respective ends of the'spring isbeyond dead center.

As mentioned in the foregoing, the supporting apparatus for the combination hair remover and hair dryer afiords adjustment to the latter and same is effected through the employment of an interiorly threaded sleeve 39lhayin a bracket '40 upon the lowermost end slida ly'connectedwith the sleeve mem ber 19 and reposing upon the uppermost projecting portion of the ball member 13. A rosleeve member 19 within the bore of the sleeve 14 and disposing of the mouth of the nozzle 26 in such position as to facilitate the removmg of loose hair and the drying of the growing hair in a most expeditious manner. The invention is susceptible of various changesinits form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is here- .in reserved to make such changes as properlyfall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. The combination of a hair collector and hair drying apparatus comprising acasmg subdivided into separate compartments, a blower and heater located within the respective compartments, a nozzle for the blower compartment extended through the heating compartment, and a valve located between the compartments.

2. A'combined hair collector and hair drying apparatus comprising a casing subdivided into suction and heating compartments, a nozzle projecting from the suction compartment through the heating compartment, a. valve member establishing communicatlon between the two compartments, a discharge sleeve for the suction compartment, a support, and a fitting for the discharge sleeve upon the support permitting universal movement to the casing and nozzle.
