IMPROVEMENT I PQ'RTABLE SODA-WATER APPARATUS,

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,292, dated November 14, 1876; application filed August 22, 1876.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN MATTHEWS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Apparatus for Transporting and Dispensing Soda-Water, 860.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,

clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use 'the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in Which Figure l is a vertical longitudinal section in the line y y of Fig. 2; Fig. 2, a front elevation, and Fig. .3 a vertical cross-section in the line 00 as of Fig.1.

This invention is', essentially, a portable soda-water apparatus, consisting of a coupe or small bandwagon, in which are arrangements, first, for carrying the fountains beneath the axle; second, in compartments at the rear part for stowiug ice, water'tanks, racks for sirup-bottles,and other articles; third, in arrangements in front for dispensing sodawater and other beverages,consisting of draftarms, sirup-faucets, coolers, and tumbler-washers fourth, in the arrangement of draws and stow-away places for money, tools, and the like; fifth, in arrangements of means for shelter of the devices while in use, and for closing up while moving or not in use; and, sixth, in devices for staying the wagon at any place where it may be desirable to fix it in the accompanying drawings, in which 0 is a closet in which extra sirups and ice are kept. H is the hand-rail, by which the wagon may be drawn. 0 is the socket to receive the handrail. H is the axle. P is a pipe to convey the ice-Water from the coolingchamber to the tumbler-washer. W W are the large wheels. w w are small guide-wheels. a is the awning, and S the awning-support. a is the spring-roller. w is the tumblerwasher. O is a closet beneath the dispensing-counter. r is a rod to pull up leg 1 K is a catch on rod 4, which catches at q to hold up the leg 1 when the wagon is being moved. land Z are legs upon which the apparatus stands when in use for dispensing. m m are money-drawers. o is an opening for egress to cooling-chambers and sirup-cans. 1' r are racks to hold extra bottles of sirup. The necessary pipes for conveying the beverages from the fountains and to the coolers, being of the ordinary construction, are not shown. 4

By the arrangement of the foifirtainsbelow the axle, space is economized, and the apparatus is less liable to upset.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-- 1. In a soda-water coupe or wagon, the combination of a fountain, an. ice-chamber, draft-arm, and sirup-faucets, all arranged substantially as described.

2. The combination of the ice-'box, tumblerwasher, and draft apparatus within the body of the coupe, as set forth.
