Heretofore, it has been the practice to put cosmeticsr especially those of the emulsion type, in glass or opal jars which are fragile,

L heavy and easily damaged. The expensive item in putting up these preparations in such jars is the jar itself, and consequently t-he consumer necessarily pays for a new jar each time a purchase is made.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide a means for marketing such cosmetics in a manner to give the purchaser a clean and sanitary article without necessitat-ing the purchase of a new jar each time a new supply is bought.

Another object of the invention lies in the provision of a container which includes inner and outer receptacles, the inner receptacle constituting a refill for the cosmetics, in Combination with means for removably securing the receptacles against relative turning movements.

W ith these and other objects in view which will more fully appear, the nature of the invention will be more clearly understood by following the description, the appended claims, and the several views illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

Referring to the drawings, my invention includes an outer receptacle A, an inner receptacle B, a clamping ring C, and a closure D.

The outer receptacle A is preferably formed of metal and includes a bottom 5 and an annular wall 6, the latter having recesses 7, 7 formed in its upper edge.

The inner receptacle B is preferably formed of paper and includesa bottom 8 and an annular wall 9, the upper end of the wall having its outer face formed with a. circumferential recess 10 forming at its lower end a stop shoulder 11. In order that the inner receptacle be impervious to moisture so that it may be used for containing cosmetics of the emulsion type, the walls 8 and 9 are provided with a moisture proof lining 9a of Celluloid, tin foil, parchment paper, or the like.

The outer and inner receptacles are each formed with an open top and are so arranged that, when the inner receptacle is positioned within the outer receptacle. the upper edges of both receptacles will be substantially in the same horizontal plane.

In order to provide means for retaining the. inner receptacle against turning movements relative to the outer receptacle, l have provided the clamping ring C which is formed of metal and includes a horizontal flange 12 and a vertical flange 13, the horizontal flange being seated on the upper edge of the outer receptacle and extending over the recesses 7 thereof. and the vertical flange 13 heilig disposed within the circumferential recess A10 and between said inner and outer receptacles. This vertical flange 13 is formed into a plurality of spaced spring fingers 14; by splitting the flange. The lower edges of the fingers 14 are each provided with an inwardly extending projection 15 adapted to frictionally engage the outer face of the wall 9 of the inner receptacle. The flange 13 intermediate the lingers 14 is formed bythe latter into a plurality of fingers 16, and formed on the lower edge of each finger 16 is an outwardly evtending projection 17 adapted to frictionally engage the inner face of the wall 6 of the outer receptacle. rllhus the fingers 1st and 16 respectively engage the inner and outer receptacles and thereby rictional hold said receptacles against rela tive turning movements. The ring C, however is capable of being removed by inserting a tool within either of the recesses 7 and forcing the ring upwardly out of the outer receptacle. This movement will probably lift the inner receptacle` tlierewith and consequeiitly the ring if desired maybe removed from the inner receptacle.

The closure D is adapted to frictionally engage the upper end of the outer receptacleand the peripheral flange 18 of said closure is of sufhcient depth to cover the recesses 7.

The .inner receptacle constitutes :the refill package and it will be observed 1that the same may be readily inserted Vv-.iithin the outer receptacle or removed therefrom. If desired, the inner receptacle B may be provided with a cover E as show-ii in Figure .G which cover may be removed prior .to the insertion .of the` refill within the outer. receptacle,

I claim:
