Description

G. LAAUWE.
nooR sHEAvEs.
No.183,857 Patented 0m31.187s.
UNITED STATES PATENT OETETCE GEORGE LAAUWE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-SHEAVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,857, dated October 31, 1876; application led September 30, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE LAAUWE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Sliding-Door Sheave Regulator, of which the following is a specification Figure l is a side view of a sliding door to which a set of' my improved sheaves has been applied, part being broken away to show the construction. Fig. 2 is a detail vertical section of the same, taken through the line x x, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a face view of one of the sheaves.
The object of this invention is to furnish improved sheaves for sliding doors which shall be so constructed that they may be adjusted to regulate the door so Vthat it may be plumb, and may work evenly and easily, and will enable tlie wear to be readily taken up.
The invention consists in a screw swiveled at its forward end to the bend of stirrup, and passing through a hole in the top of case, as hereinafter described.
A represents a sliding door. B is the lower rail, and Ojs the upper rail, upon which the door slides back and forth. D are the sheaves, pulleys, or rollers., which are pivoted to and between the arms of a U-shaped strap or stirrup, E, the side edges of which are grooved to receive the V-shaped ridges formed upon the edges ot' the side plates of the case F, within which the pulley D works, and in which are formed openings to receive the stirrup E. The face-plate of the case F has holes formed through it to receive the screws by which it is secured to the door. G is a screw, which passes through a screw-hole in the top of the case F, and the forward end of which is swiveled to the bend of the stirrup E. The upper end of the screw G has a head formed upon it for convenience in turning it, to raise and lower the pulley to adjust the door, as required. In the side of the door opposite the heads of the screws G are formed openings, to give access to the said heads, and which are covered with plates. These plates may be made of metal, or may be made of wood, to correspond with the door.
I do not claim broadly the idea of adjusting the pulley ot' a sliding-door sheave, but only my particular means for accomplishing that object.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved sliding-door sheave, formed by the combination of the pulley D, the stirrup E, the swiveled screw G, and the case F with each other, substantially as herein shown and described.
GEORGE LAAUWE. Witnesses:
