The main steam cylinders are indicated at 5 and 6 and each is provided with a `corresponding steam supply valve, the chamber for which is shown at 7 and 8, respectively. These cylinders and valve chambers are supported from the main member by a substantially box-like saddle structure comprising front and rear walls 9 `and 10, respectively, and horizontal top and bottom webs 1 1 and 12, respectively, which are substantially in line with the boxwalls 1 and 2.l Walls 9 and 10 extend upwardly above the level ofthe center member and ,above the Ysupply valve chambers and are connected by upright walls 14, all of these walls forming the sides of a box which has anV arcuate top plate'15 on which the smoke-box of the boiler rests. These spaces also provide access to the valve chamber inner side which faces towards the center line lof thelocomotive.
