COLLAPSIBLE TUBE HOLDER Application filed May 13, 1931. Serial No. 537,023.

My invention relates to container holders and refers particularly to devices adapted to hold collapsible tubes and similar containers.

It is common custom to pack creams and pastes, such as shaving cream, tooth paste, face creams and similar products, in collapsible tubes, the contents being forced therefrom by pressing, or collapsing, the lower portion of the tube, thus causing the escape of the contents'from an Vopening in the upper end thereof.

In the absence of a holder, these tubes, when not in use, lie upon the wash-stand or upon shelves.

As the tubes usually carry water after use, and as frequently the outside walls of the tube are not free from their contents the surfaces upon which they rest become wet and sticky, and the tubes become contaminated and unhygienic. This promiscuous placement of a plurality of tubes is not only untidy in appearance but is also liable to unhygienic results.

My invention overcomes all of the above and other objectionable features incident to placing such holders upon a horizontal surface, and presents a device in which the tubes are maintained in an orderly manner, easy of access, with a natural elimination of exterior moisture to a common exit, without contamination with each other and with a maintenance of hygienic condition.

The novelty and advantages of the device of my invention will be evident upon a consideration of my specification and accompanying drawings, in which similar parts are designated by similar numerals.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form Y 40 of my device illustrating the manner in which tubes are carried therein.

Figure 2 is a top plan view of Figure 1 with the tubes removed.

Figure 3 is a longitudinal section through the line 3 3 of Figure 2.

Figure 4 is a cross-section through the line 4-4 of Figure 2.

Figure 5 is an end view of my device made of sheet-material.

Figure 6 is a section through the line 6-6 of Figure 7 Figure 7 is an end view of a modified form of the device of my invention.

The particular form ofthe device of my in-A vention shown in the accompanying drawings consists of a body member 10 having a longi- 55 tudinally disposed Y shaped recess 11, v12 therein, the bottom 13 of said recess being inclined with respect to the base of the body member 10. One side of the body member 10 has a plurality of holes 14, 14, into which dow 60 el pins 15, 15, may be inserted and cemented, the extended portions of said dowel pins being inserted into and cemented within holes in a wall, for instance, in order to suspend the device if desired.

The device shown in Figures 1 to 4 illusltrate my device in which the body portionis solid, as for instance wood, metal, glass, porcelain and so forth, while the device shown in Figure 5 is made from sheet material, the 70 body portion therefore being hollow.

The operation of the device is as follows :f Collapsible tubes 16, 16, such as those employed to contain shaving cream, tooth paste,

and other liquid or paste materials, are placed 75 within the Y-shaped recess l1, 12, the collapsed portion of the tube being positioned within the recess 11, the inclined faces 12, 12 of the recess supporting the tube in upright position. As the contents of a tube are in part removed, the empty portion of the tube is folded upon itself, as shown in Figure 4, and the holder employed as described.

The modified form of my device shown in Figures 6 and 7 consists of a body member having the bottom 17, the sides 18 and 19, and the ends 20 and 21. The inner face 22 of the bottom 17 is inclined downwardly and has a drain opening 23 in its lower part. The device rests upon a plurality of supports 24, 24. The inner faces of the two sides 18 and 19 form a Y-shaped space 25 for the support of collapsible tubes. The operation of this modified form is similar to that previously described.

It will thus be seen that my device may be positioned upon a horizontal plane surface,

as upon a washstand, or it may be suspended from a vertical surface, that it is capable of holding a number of tubes, that each tube body. member` having f an upwardly Vopened may be removed and replaced Without disturbance of other tubes, that it holds tubes of different length and of different amounts of contents, that the tubes are maintained in a clean condition, that the tubes are prevented from contact With each nother and that mois'- ture, or Water, drained from the tubes is car ried tota common4 exit.
