Description

1..-TANNEY. PAINT-BRUSH BLLNDER.'
Patented 05m17.187s.-
WITNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEwiS TANNEY, 0E BEAVER EALLS, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN PAINT-BRUSH BINDERS.
Specitication forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,345, dated October 17, 1876 5 application filed June 26, 1876.v
ATo all whom it 'may concer/n:
Be it known that I, LEWIS TANNEY, of Beaver Falls, in the county of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Paint-Brush Binders, of which the following is a specification:
place, and prevent them from curling up,
which may be veasily and quickly attached and detached, and will be held securely in place.
The invention consists in an improved metallic binder for paint-brushes, formed ofthe two semi-cylindrieal plates, having semicircular disks attached to their upper ends, and having eyes formed upon their side edges, the cross-plate lhaving eyes formed in its end edges, and the fastening-wires, vas hereinafter fully described.
The binder is made of light sheet-brass, or other suitable sheet metal. A are two Semicylindrioal plates, of such a size as to itv around the brush, and to the upper edges of which are permanently attached two semicirlcular disks, B, having semicircular notches I formed in the centers of their straight edges, to t around the base of the brush-handle. Upon the edges of the plates A are formed eyes or sockets, to receive the pins or wires C, by which they are secured to each other` around the brush. D is a plate, which is passed through the bristles, and the ends of which have eyes formed upon them, to interlock with the eyes of the plates A and receive the pins C. By this construction the disks B prevent the device from moving down, and the plate D prevents it from moving up, so that it will be held securely in place. The lower parts of the plates A are iattened, as shown in Figs. l and 2, to give the proper formto the bristles.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved metallic binder for paintbrushes, formed ofthe semi-cylindrical plates A, having divided disks B attachedto their upper ends, and having eyes formed upon their side edges, the plate D, having eyes formed in its end edges, and the wires (J, substantially as herein shown and described.
