The invention relates to a spray nozzle, and more partlcularly to that class of spray nozzles used. as shower heads.
The object of the invention is to providea shower'head,'whereby the type of spray can be changed,y as desired, that is, either a very fine thin spray, or a heavy coarse spray.
Another object of the invention is to provide a shower head, in which the spray can be practically cut ofi without the use of the usual valves.
Still another object of the invention is to rovide af shower head which will-be -free rom scale, or foreign matter which generally lodges in the spray holes, causing great inefciency. l Y
With these and other objects and advantages in view, attention isV called to the drawin s, in which: igure 1 is a vertical cross-section of the shower head assembly, and
Figure 2 is a plan view of the bottom of the shower head showing the spray holes therein.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the Ainvention provides the usual ball and socket joint, comprising the nutl internally screw threaded at 2 for a pipe connec tion, and externally screw threaded at 3 to receive the socket member 4. A spring 5 fis placed within the socket member, and rests upon the packing such as a washer 6 which in turn fits upon the ball member 7 which has an vorifice at its top, as at 8. Suitable packing such as a washer 9 .is placed between the bottom of the socket member and said ball member. Extending downwardly from the ball member through the bottom of the4 socket member, is a tubular member l0 having attached thereto, at its lowermost portion in any suitable manner, a disc 11;`
Screw threads 12 are provided near the upper portion of the tubular memberlO, and at a point substantially midway .the -said tubular member, is a collar 13 integrally or otherwise attached thereto, which .is provid-- ed with screw threads 14.
An enclosing member 15 substantially bell l shaped 'fits' around the tubular member 10 and is provided with internal screw threads to correspond with those on' said tubular member. Packing is provided at 1 6 between the enclosing member; 15 and the tubular member 10. A bottom 17 is attached in any siutable manner' to the enclosing' member 15, and has on its inner surface projections -IS-through which are apertures 19. It will .be noted that the aperturesare considerably largerthan those ordinarily used and that there are no apertures directly below 'the outlet of tubular member 10. The .disc 11 attached to the tubular member 10 complete- Ily covers the apertures in the bottom of thel enclosing member, sutlicient clearance being left between said disc and the walls of the enclosing member to allow the latter to be moved against or .away from the disc: 10.
Handles 20 may be provided on the enclosing member to facilitate operation thereof.
The operation of the device' is`eXtremel-y (simple. and eilicient. Relative movement of the bell shaped enclosing spray member and the disc 11 regulates the flow of the water and y' the desired type of spray. When the shower lodges on the projections about the openings, l it is simply necessary to tightly screw Jthe bell shaped enclosing spray member againsttlie disc 11 and, in so doing, grlnd the scale or foreign matter into small particles, whereby as soon as the shower head is opened, the
water will carry thescale and-foreign matter out through the enlarged holes.
It will be understood that the' embodiment of the invention disclosedherein is illustrative and not restrictive, and that various changes in the form, construction and `arspirit and scope of the following claims.

5. In a spray nozzle, a tubular outletmember, a disc-like portion secured to the lower end thereof, a substantially bell-shaped member adjustably secured on said tubular outlet member, and a perforated disc attached atthe bottom -of said bell-shaped member.
'6. In a spray nozzle, a tubular outlet member, a disclilre portion secured to the lower end thereof, an enclosing member adjustably secured on said tubular outlet member, and means to divert the iow of water from said tubular member.
7. In a spray nozzle, a tubular outlet member, an enclosing spray member adjustably secured on said tubular outlet member, and means to diffuse the Water through the bottom portion of said enclosing spray member.
8,. In' a spray nozzle, a tubular outlet member,.a disc-like portion secured to the lower end thereof, and an enclosing spray member adjustably secured on said tubular outlet member, the bottom of said enclosing spray member having apertures therein.
9. ln a spray nozzle, a tubular outlet member, a disc-like portion secured to the lower end thereof, and an enclosing spray member adjustably secured on said tubular outlet member, the bottom of said enclosing spray member having apertures therein at points Without the circumference of said tubular outlet member.

In a spray nozzle, a tubular outlet member, a disc-like portion secured to the lower end thereof, andan enclosing spray member adjustably-secured on said tubular outlet member, the bottom of said enclosing spray member having projections onfits inner surface, said projections having'A apertures therein.

15. ln a spray nozzle, a tubular outlet member, an imperforate disc-like portion secured to the lower end thereof, and an en closing spray member, the interior diameter of which is larger than said disc-like portion, and provided with apertured projec tions on its inner surface, the tubular outlet member andthe spray member being adjustable relative to each other to regulate the spray.
