RiLEY SCORE PAD HOLDER Filed Feb. 10, 1931 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 I n venior A llorney Patented cat. 27, I931 PATENT OFFICE FRANK W. RILEY, F PENSACOLA, FLORIDA SCORE PAD HOLDER Application filed February 10, 1931.
vantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a perspective view of one form of the invention,
Fig. 2 represents a longitudinal sectional view through the form of the invention shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 represents a perspective view of the pad supporting frame.
Fig. 4 represents a perspective View of a modification of the invention.
Fig. 5 represents a side elevation of the holder shown in ig. 4,
Fig. 6 represents a top plan view of the holder shown in Fig. 4:.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen in Fig. 1, that numeral 5 represents a rectangular-shaped base plate provided with a transversely extending pencil groove 6, at the intermediate portion thereof. At one end of the base 5 is a transversely extending channel 7 which inclines upward in an inward direction as at 8.
, An inverted U-shaped frame 9 has the leg portions thereof bent obliquely at their ends as at 10 for disposition into corresponding m openings in the base 5 adjacent the channel The frame is disposed so as to slant in an inward direction as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. With the frame in this position, a score card can be placed in the channel 7 and permitted to rest against the frame 9 in a position in view of all of the players at the table.
Figs. 4, 5 and 6 represent a modification of the invention. This form of the invention comprises a back plate 11 which is to be supported in an upwardly inclined posi- Serial No. 514,858.
tion by the hinged leaf 12. This leaf 12 is of triangular shape, and is secured to the back side of the plate 11 by the hinge 13.
A pad 1 1 is secured to the front side of the plate 11 and obviously, by disposing the leaf 12 to a position perpendicular to the plate 11, and placing the device upon the table in the position shown in Fig. 5, the pad 14 will be supported in a substantially upright position, so that the scoring thereon will be visible to all the players at the table.
While the foregoing specification discloses the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is A holder of the class described comprising abase block having a transverse groove adjacent its front edge, said groove having its front wall vertically arranged and its rear wall sloping upwardly and rearwardly from said front wall, said block having a pair of holes therein spaced slightly rearwardly from the groove and arranged one adjacent each side edge of the block, and a yoke-shaped member having the extremities of its limbs slightly bent and engaging the holes whereby the major portion of said yoke-shaped member slopes upwardly and rearwardly from the block.
In testimony whereof I EllfiX my signature.
FRANK IV: RILEY.
