CURTAIN clean-Ina A plication filed January15,119311Sria1 $0,598,918:
My inventionrelates to a curtain carrier, and more particularlyto a'niaster carrier for draw curtains, w
Master carriers for a pair of draw cur- 5 tains are the carriers which are attached to the left-hand meeting edge of the righthand curtain and to the right-hand meeting edge of the left-hand curtain, and towhich the curtain operating cord is attached. I
It is the principal object of-the present invention to provide simple, novel, and readily adjustable means for securely attaching a curtain carrier to the curtain operating cord. Other objects and features of the invention will bepointed out or will .become apparent upon a'reading of the specification; I j
In the drawings'which show, for illustrative purposes only, a preferred form of the -invention .1 I a Fig. 1 is a side elevation'of a curtain carrier embodying features of my invention "Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the curtain carrier shown in Fig. 1 showing the curtain track in cross section. i
from which one or more curtain carriers are 7 supported. 11 represents a cord or rope by means of which a pair of draw curtains can be opened or closed. 12 is the carrier body of the curtain carrier to which one or'more anti-friction rollers 13 are pivoted by-ineans of the pivots 14:. The anti-friction rollers 13 are preferably made of fiber and coact with suitable bearing surfaces in the curtain track 10; The carrier body 12 is bent so as to form a laterally projecting ear 15 to which is attached a curtain attachment ring 16so as to support the curtain from apoint' which v is approximately under the rollers 13. The
carrier body 12 has a clamping lug 17, and
a clamping lever 18 for clamping the cord 11 to the carrier body is pivoted near one of its] ends at 19 to the body:12.v -The long arm r of the lever 18 is adapted to be operated by the finger, and the shortarm of the lever has a cam surface 20 formed thereonfi A shoe in the form of alever 21 is pivoted at,
22 to the body 12. The pivot 22 is prefer- In said illustrative drawings, 10 repre-" sents a curtain track in theforin of a tube and a suitable gripping surface 23 ispreferably formedon the shoe 21 at or near the opposite or free end thereofi The clamping lug 17 and the gripping surface 23 are adapted to coact with opposite sides of the cord 11 so as to clamp the curtain carrier securely tothe cord. The cam surface 20 isadapted to coact with the freee'nd of the shoe 21 for the purpose of forcing the shoe against the cord 11 and thus clamping the cord between the gripping surface. 23 and the lug 17. 2 1
1s a retaining disk attachedto the carrier body 12 for. the purpose of retaining the clamping lever 18 and theshoe 21adjacent; 1
,. Acacias,
to the carrierbody 12. V I It will bereadily seen that with the use v of my invention'the master carriers canbe securely andleadily attached at any points on I the operating cord and can be readily shifted from point'to point on the cord without the use of any tools. 1
While the lIlVGIltlOII has been described in considerable detail anda specific form shown x in the drawings, it is to be understood that a the invention maybe otherwise embodied and employed in connection with curtain carriers and the like of various types other than here-' in shown.
I claim: 7 g 1. A curtain carrier comprising, a carrier body, a shoe pivoted to said carrier body and having a gripping surface adjacent to one end thereof, and means to operate said shoe, whereby when said shoe is operated a curtain cord will be clampedjbetween said gripping surfaceand said carrier'body. 2. A curtain carrier comprising, a carrier body, a clamping lever, and a shoe, said that when said clamping leveris operated a shoe-and said carrier body. I i
' V 3. A curtain carrier comprising a carrier body, a clamping lever pivoted to saidcar'rier body, and' a shoe pivoted to said carrier body, said'clarnping lever coacting with said shoe) so that when saidclamping lever is operated? shoe and said carrier body.
curtain cord will be clamped between said I a curtain cord will be clamped between said;
4. AUDIT/3111105131181 comprising a, carrierIOO body, a clamping Iever pivoted to said carrier body and having a cam surface adjacent to one end thereof, and a shoe pivoted to said carrier body, said cam surface coacting with said shoe so that when said clamping lever is operated a curtain cord will be clamped between said shoe and'said carrier body.
5. A curtain carrier comprising, a carrier body, an anti-friction roller pivoted thereto, a clamping lever pivoted to said carrier body, and a shoe pivoted to said carrier body, said clamping lever having a cam surface adjacent to one end thereof, said cam surface coacting with said shoe so that When saidclamping lever is operated a curtain cord Will be clamped between said shoe and said carrier body.
