SAILER, or TOWNLEY, New JERsnr-Assenoa "fro Transilvania MANU"-A FACTURING COMPANY, on` ELIZABETH, Nnwannsnx e consonancia orxnnw g' ranma/inn, Y' i 1 Appncation sieaiune 5, 1929., serial l:n.aeasaa- This invention' relates to a folderffor use with sewing machines for forming a facingstrip upon the edge of a body-fabric of a Y shirt.
forcements customarily-formed upon adjacent front portions of a shirt or other gar.- mentV and upon yone of these facing-strips ybuttons ,I are secured which are .adapted to enter buttonholes formed in the other facingstrip for closing the fro-nt of the shirt or garment.- The object yofthe present invention is the construct-ion of a folder whereby thefacing strip is formed vupon the marginal portion of a body-fabric without the use of a separate fabric-strip. Y Y
According to the present invention lthe folder is constructed with a plurality of superposed guideplates with a. tuck-forming l''nn'arginal portion of the fabric-section intol the `reentrantv fold made by the tuck-forming channel for concealment of the rawv edge of l theY fabric.
" The invention is illustrated in the accom-v panying drawings in which Fig. 1 is aplan view of the folder attached to the cloth-platev of a sewing machine. Fig. 2 is a side-elevation of the folder showing it in operative Y. relation to the needle and presser-foot .of the sewing machine. Figs. 3 and 4 are sectional elevatio-ns, on an enlarged scale,1on lines 3 3 and 4-4, respectively, of Fig. 1 -Fig 5..
and Fig. 5 is a diagrammatic view illustrat-'l-` infr the worl produced*bythe folder. The folder is shown mounted'upon a sewing machme having any'suitable stitch-form lng mechanism in which a pair of spaced v, needles 1 operate through needle-holes 2 in a presser-foot 3 above a throat-plate licarried by the cloth-plate 5. Y A feed-dog -operates inl slots (not shown) in the throat-plateas will be understood by those skilled in the art.

Having thus set forth the nature of the invention, What I claim herein is l. A folder comprising afabric-supporting plate, a Wall overhanging and sustained by one edge of said fabric-supporting plate, an arbor spaced above and supported by said overhanging Wall and extending laterally beyond said edgeof the fabric-supporting plate and a hein-scroll embracing said arbor and having a free edge disposed between said fabric-supporting plate and said overhanging Wall.
2.
