This invention relates to combination stop and rear end signal lamps for automotive vehicles, and more particularly to the type of lamp having two light chambers illuminated by one incandescent bulb having two spaced filaments differing in candle power and disposed respectively in the light chambers. The light chambers are closed by panes or lenses providing when illuminated, the stop and rear end signals, respectively.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a lamp of this type which is durable and rugged and which may be produced at low cost.
Further objects and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the fol lowing description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings wherein a preferred embodiment of one form of the present invention is clearly shown.

The lamp housing has its back wall apertured to receive a connector member comprising sheet metal half shell members 22a and 22?) attached as shown in Figs. 2 and 5' is attached by a rivet 220. The connector 22 which surto the flange 23 of the housing 20 rounds the aperture in the housing back wall.- The flange 23 cooperates with the rivet 220 to maintain the members 22a and 22b assembled. The connector 22 provides a socket 24 for receiving two terminal type electrical connection plugs (not shown) adapted to engage contacts 25 and 26 integral respectively with leaf spring conductors 27 and 28 which are insulatingly supported by a bodyof insulating material 29 within the conby the housing back secures the mounting;

The partition 40 is provided with an opening 41 through which the lamp bulb 33 eX-v tends, and is provided with an ear 42 having a square hole 43 in alignment with a square hole in the back of the housing 20for receiving the square portion 44 of a bolt 45 which is retained by clinching tangs 46 provided wall against the shank of the bolt as shown in Figs. 2 and 4. The bolts 45 and 47 provide means for attaching the lamp housing to a bracket Adjacent the front edge of the housing 20 the partition 40 is provided with ears 50 havingtapped holes 51 eachfor receiving a screw 52 which secures the lamp door frame 53 to provided with apertures 54 and 55 for exposing the lenses or. panes 56 and .57 which cover respectively the light chambers 36 and 39. Preferably the filament 85 is of lower candle power since it is operated continuously when driving or parking at night, and the filament 34: is of ;-l1igl1er candle power for rendering the stop lamp plainly visible even when operated in I the daytime.
The-filament 85 is used also to illuminate the rear license plate of the automobile by shining through a pane 7O enclosing anaperture 71 in the bottom of the lamp housing 20.
