The record-table beingnow free to rotate, the tone-armf` swings inwardly during the playing of a record and engages the buffer-disk 41 to swing, through the described connections,` the brake-lever into record-table engaging position.
Having thus set forth the nature of the invention, what Iclaim herein is: Y
1. In a sound-reproducing apparatus having a rotatable record-table, a swinging brake-lever having its pivotal axis within the circumference kof vsaid record-table, a friction-element carried by the brake-lever positioned to engage and release the circumferential periphery of said table in swinging movements of the brake-lever in opposite directions, means acting to shift said brakelever from braking to release positions and means for releasably'latching said V brakelever in braking position. Y
2. In a sound-reproducing apparatus having a rotatable record-table, a swinging brake-lever having itsv pivotal axis within the circumference of said record-table, a friction-element carried by the brake-lever positioned to engage and release the circumferential periphery of said table in swinging movements of the brake-lever in opposite directions, means acting automatically upon operation of the sound-reproducing apparatus for swinging said lever from release to braking positions, and ymeans for releasably latching said brake-lever in braking position.
3. In a sound-reproducing` apparatus having `a rotatable record-table, a brakelever, a pivotal support for said lever, a latch-arm pivotally supported by said lever,
i a friction-element carried by the brake-lever between its pivotal supportand said latcharm in position to engage and release the periphery of said record-table upon swinging movements of lthe brake-lever in opposite directions, a stop-element for holding said' latch-arm in record-table braking position of the brake-lever, and means' for automatically swinging said brake-lever from braking to release positions upon release of said latch-arm.
4. In a sound-reproducingy apparatus having a rotatable record-table and a swinging tone-arm, a brake-lever, a pivotal support for said lever, a latch-arm pivotally supported by said lever, a friction-element carried by the brake-lever. between its pivotal support and said latch-arm in position to engage and release the periphery of said record-table upon swlnglng movementsV of the brake-lever in opposite directions, a
otal axis of the lever, .a friction-element carried by the brake-lever in position to engage and release the periphery of ,said record-table upon swinging movements of the brake-lever in opposite directions, means for` latching said arm to hold said lever in record-table braking position, and a spring acting to swing said lever from braking to release positions upon release of said latch-arm.
6..In a sound-reproducing apparatus having a rotatable record-table, a frictionbrake member capable of being shifted to engage and release said record-table, spaced contact-members of an electric-circuit controlling switch, a spring acting to shift said friction-brake member from record-table engaging position, and means for bridging said spaced contact-members to close the electric-circuit upon shifting of said friction-brake member under the action of said spring to release the record-table.
7. In a sound-reproducing apparatus having a rotatable record-table and a swinging rtone-arm, a friction-brake member capable of beingr shifted to engage and release said record-table, spaced contact-members of an electric-circuit controlling switch, a spring acting to shift said friction-brake member from record-table engaging position, means for bridging said spaced contact-members to close the electric-circuit upon shifting of said friction-brake member under the action of .said spring to release the recordtable, and means rendered effective by in-v ward movement of said tone-arm for shifting said friction-brake member to engage said record-table and open said electriccircuit.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
