This invention relates to oil burners.
An object of the'invention is toprovide an improved oil burner having a pipe for conducting oil toward the burner arranged in a novel relationship so that the oil will be subjected to the heat'of the burner and more efficiently vaporized for combustion.
Another object of the invention is to provide an oil burner having an improved valve device for controlling and regulating the same. i

A valve element 44 is screwed into the end of the valve body 43 and includes a needle valve portion 45 at its outer end which is united with the main element 44 by a conical portion 46. When the valve is completely closed the rounded machined end of the valve body 43 seats against the wall of the recess 37 while the conical portion 46 contacts with the apex portion of the conical recess 37 and the needle valve 45 extends throughthe restricted opening 38. It will be seen that by operation of the rod 42 to open and to close this valve the needle valve part 45 will keep the opening 38 open and prevent it from becoming clogged.
The outer end of the valve rod 42 extends through and beyond the extension 33 into a fitting 47 and through a hole in a partition 48 in said fitting. At the outer side of said aartition 48 in the fitting 47 the valve rod 42 has swivel connection 49 with a valve operating device 50. The valve operating device 50 has an enlarged threaded portion 51 screwed within a threaded opening in a fixture 52 attached to the outer end of the fitting 47 and is equipped on its outer end with a handle 53 whereby said device This swivel connection 49 whereby the operating device 50 is connected with the rod 42 constitutes a highly important feature of the invention, since the rod 42 is positively operated thereby, but not subjected to any lateral strains or stresses and hence does not become jammed or distorted, but will operate freely under nearly all conditions of use of the burner. The chamber 36 is located adjacent to a burner outlet disc 54 so that most of any oil which might become trapped in said chain her will be vaporized and caused to pass on to the burner. A function of the disc 54 is to subject the chamber 36 to the heat of the flame at said disc 54 in order to vaporize any oil that might pass into said chamber 36 from the connections previously described. As will be seen by reference to Fig.6 of the drawings, the chamber 36 may receive and contain any oil passing thereto from the hollow member 32. As shown in Fig. 1, the chamber 36 is adjacent to the disc 54 so that the heat of the flame at the disc 34 will be appliec directly against the chamber 36 to effect vaporization. of oil received and contained in said chamber 36.

An oil. burner comprising an enclosure for gas having gas outlet openings in its upper side and also having gas outlet openings through one lateral side, an oil conducting pipe supported near one side of said enclosure and subjected to the heat of the burning gas issuing from said lateral side openings, a pipe supported near the opposite side of said enclosure and opening into one end of said enclosure, means for con ducting gas from said first pipe to said second pipe near the opposite end of said enclosure from which said second pipe opens into said enclosure, a pipe extending angularly from said first pipe to said means and transversely of the axis of said enclosure, and a valve controlling passage of gas from said first pipe into said second pipe.

An oil burner comprising an enclosure for gas having gas outlet openings in its upper side and having an inclined Wall at one end provided With a gas outlet opening and also having lateral gas outlet openings, an oil conducting pipe supported at one side of said enclosure and subjected to the heat of the burning gas issuingtrom said lateral openings, a pipe supported near the opposite side of said enclosure and opening into the end of said enclosure opposite from said inclined wall, a branch pipe extending from said first pipe transversely above said inclined wall adjacent-to said opening in said inclined wall, and means controlling passage of gas from said branch pipe to said second pipe.

An Oll burner comprising an enclosure for gas having gas outlet openings in its upper side and having an inclined Wall at one end provided with a outlet opening and also having lateral gas outlet openings, an oil conducting pipe supported at one side of said enclosure and subjected to the heat of the burning gas issuing from said lateral openin s, a pipe supported near the opposite si e of said enclosure and opening into the end of said enclosure opposite from said inclined wall, a branch pipe extending from said first pipe transversely above said in- 'clined wall adjacent to said opening in said inclined wall, a hollow member receiving gas from said branch pipe, a chamber forming communication from said hollow member to said second pipe, a. perforated disc controlling. passage of gas from said hollow member to said chamber, and a valve controlling passage of gas from said chamber to said second pipe.
