Referring tothe drawings Figure 1 is a plan of a block according to this invention.
Figure 2 is a section at A-B in Figure 1, whilst Figure 3 is a section at C-D in Figure 1.
In carrying the present invention into practice as shewn upon the accompanying drawings a glass portion or other transparent portion 4 is provided the top of which is preferably corrugated, as the traic passing over said block will only scratch or mark the tops J of the corrugations leaving thel bottoms of the grooves formed by the corrugations bright, whilst said corrugations reduce the possibility of slipping on said blocks.
Formed in the top 5 of the glass portion 4 is an undercut recess 6 which can be shaped to a letter, sign, numeral or other device which it isrequired to use, said undercut recess being lilled in with metal cement or other suitable materialewhich is perfectly opaque. The underside of the glass portion 4 is formed as two inclined planes 7, 8, which meet at the centre 9 and laid on or secured to said inclined planes, 7, 8 are bright metal strips 10 which are preferably of stainless steel and act as a reflector, thereby throwing up the sign formed in the upper portion of the glass portion 4.
The outer edges of the glass portion 4 are preferably provided with shoulders 11 which form a key for locking the glass portion 4 together with the reflecting strips 10 in a concrete or like surround 12.
A block according to this invention having suitable words, letters or signs formed there- 1n will convey the required information or warning both by day and night owing to the reected light setting olf the sign formed in the top of the glass portion 4.
It is obvious that this invention may be used on footpaths, kerbs or walls if necessary.
Claim A block for road surface 8,1151 other markings comprising in combination a transparent portion, the underside of said transparent portion being formed as outwardly extending inclined planes, a recess formed in the upper surface of said transparent portion, an opa ue fillin disposed in said recess to form mar ings, re ectors disposed on said inclined planes of the transparent portions and a concrete surround in which the transparent portion and reflectors are embedded to form a block.
