Referring morevparticularly to thej'tilraw-v ing' wherein like numerals of reference indi cate corresponding parts throughoutithe sev eralviews, the numeral 1 indicates generally q the improved frame" embodyingfthe'present invention. This framefcomprises tlie us'ual top barl2, side bars and bottom bar 4.. "As sh'own iin Figures 2 and3 thefsidefand top members. Thetwo members comprisingthe top bar being indicated bythe numerals 5 While each of the two'memb ers comprising i the side bars 3-arelindicatedbythe numerals 6. Theconfrontmg 0i ithe 'members 6" making 'upieach of'the sidebars 3' arealso faceof the cut, inclinedoutwardly' toward the of the memberjfso that there is thus formed in theupperendf of each side. bar 3 a dovetail'recess as sho'Wn'inFignre 3 for the reception of onedovetailed: jpor'tion At their 1 lower ends of the: members 2 making up the side bars 3 of the frame are cut away to form the dovetail recesses 10 which open downwardly from the ends of the members and in each of these recesses there fits one end of the bottom bar 4 which is of dovetailed cross-section throughout as shown.
Each of the side members 3 of the frame has passed therethrough a pair of holding bolts each of which is indicatedby the numeral 1'1 and thebar 2 has a wood screw or other suitable holding a'ielen'rent threaded thereinto intermediate its ends as indicated at 12, these bolts and the screw, -of eourse, acting to secure the members making up the top and side bars in assembledrelation'as will be readily understood and in addition to this theycauseuthe members of the top and side bars to .grip the edges of a comb foundation disposed therebetween. Thebolts llhdlding the members of the side bars 3 to ether also cause the sidebars to maintain a' rm grip upon thetop andbottom bars 2 and 4 thus giving a strong rigid frame wliich cannot be twisted out of the square and which eannotbe 'easily'broken,
In placing a comb "foundation in the frame 1 the nuts upon the bolts 11 and. screw 12 are removed so that theframetop andside bars may be divided into two portionsythe lower members retainingt-he bolts projecting up wardly from thesurface upon which the frame may 'be laid. "The foundation which is indicated'by the'numeral IS'is then placed in; osition upon the members carrying the holdingbolts after which "the associate menibers .are placed "in. position upon the first mentioned members to complete the formation of the top and sidebarsof the frame, the nuts being replaced upon'the holdingbolts anddrawn up tightly thereon against the adjacentfmenibers to secure the members of the bars togetherand to cause them to grip the edges ofthe foundation therbetween.
As shown in Figure 2 the bolts-employed for holding the members of "the side bars together project beyond the bars "in which they are positioned so that "when the frames are placed in ahivie 'the ends of the bolts will come into contacting relation and thus suitably space the frames. 4 l 1 lhese contacting bolts hold the frames apart so itha't 'tlie wax of thecombs will not cause the frames .to adhere onelto the other, the only points where adlierei ceunay occur being between the contacting ends of the bolts. As these small surfaces may be readily separated it will be seen that the rei'noval of any one of the frames from the hive may be efl'etedwithout difficulty and without jar; r ng the framesor inpiring an of the becs thereon'or on adjacent frames. v
