- Thisinvention relates to carriers for con tainers; and is especially useful in carrying a stack of pans or food receptacles from one place to'another. The receptacles are prefer- ,5- ably such that when one is stacked upon anotherit will form a closure therefor, so that food for example may be kept hot, and by the device illustrated a stack of such recep tacles may be locked together to be transported by a single handle adapted to lift and carry them all.

One form of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the device applied to a stack 13 of vessels, in carrying position. Fig. 2 is a similar view with the parts in different position, as when releasing the vessels. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of one of the hangers. Fig. 4 is a plan of a clamping bar extending across the top vessel. Fig. 5"is a side elevation of several of the vessels in separated position.

It'is obvious that whenthereceptacles are stacked as shown in-Fig. 1, andthe han ers applied, the receptacles will beheld in stac ed relation by the pressure ofthe bar 16 extending across the top vessel. To release the vessels, the handle 10 is pushed downand sprlngs 12 are compressed and the lugs 19 are thereby released from the handles of the bottom vessel, and the hangers can then be sprung out-to disengage from the handles 17 and permit the removal of the carrier. The carrier can again be applied to a stack of vessels by a reverse operation. The engagement of the handles 17 in the slots 11a efl'ectively prevent any movement of the containers while they are being transported, and being sealed by each other, liquid may be carried without 7 danger of spilling.

I claim: I

1. A carrier for stacked containers having handles .at opposite sides, comprising a pair of hangers having slots to receive the handles of the containers, a handle connecting the hangers at the top, and a spring pressed clamping bar extending'across the top conminer and between the hangers.

2. A carrier as in claim 1, each hanger so having a lug projecting upwardly at the lower end of the slot, to engage the handle. of the bottom container. 5 I

3. A carrier as in claim 1, each hanger having a retaining guide for the clamping bar.

4. A carrier as in claim 1, the clamping bar "having openings through its ends, and each hanger having a guide rod extending through said openings.
