IMPROVEMENT IN APPLIANCES FOR STORING AND COUNTING COIN.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,773, dated September 5, 1876; application filed 7 May 24, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM CUNNING- HAM, of Baltimore, State of Maryland, have invented an Appliance to Facilitate vthe Storing and Counting 0t Coin, of which the following is a specification:
My invention is an appliance for use in banks,counting-ro0ms,and other places where a quantity of coin is in use, and is inclosed in a case made of wood or metal, with a 'cover,
appearing when closed like an ordinary box,
cylindrical in shape, the circumference of each corresponding in size exactly to the circumference of the particular coin intended to be put into it, and the height of each corresponding to the thickness of twenty (or any other desired number) of the same denomination of coins. The receptacles are arranged in rows, those of equal size in the same row, the space between the rows being cut away, and two openings made in each receptacle, at opposite points in its circumference, and extending from top to bottom, both the cutting away and the openings being made use of to tacilitate the removal of part or all the coin from any receptacle when desired, and in order that the height of the piles of coins on the graduated scale may be distinguished.

I also purpose to apply my invention to a board without sides or cover, for use where such form may be desirable.
My claim is as follows:
In a receptacle for coin, substantially as described, the graduated walls A, with openings B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
