Description

L. WILKINSON.
TRAYS.
No.181,7'54.-. Patented Aug.29, 1876.
' Wi msses;
Nrrnn situerensu PAEN'r LEWIS WILKINSON, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.-
IMPROVEMENT IN TRAVS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,754, dated August 29, 1876; application led November 22, 1875.
To all-'whom 'it may concern Be it known that l, LEwls WILKINSON, of the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented certain new and usei'ul Improvements in Money-Tablets, which are fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying` drawings.
Figure l is a viewr of the top of one form of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-scctional view of the same, showing the convenient positions for grasping with the tingers that coins and other money are likely to assume when the same are carelessly thrown orlaid down upon The receiving-surface of the tablet or pad, as occurs in the act of delivering` change.
An obvious case of' usefulness of this invention is when the receiver of change is gloved. y Fig. 2 shows that the ends of the fingers may be placed below the edge of the pieces to be picked up, and positive and easy grasp insured.
The general surface of the tablet may be at, convex, or, preferably, slightly concave; but whatever such surtace may be as a whole, the undulations or elevations and depressions should be such as not to allow the at sides ofthe coin, 85o., to occupy a position parallel to the surface of the tablet, which is immediately above which the coin is resting.
The tablet may be made of glass, wood, or of any other suitable material. rIhe lower side ofthe pad or tablet may be made similar to the upper side, so as to be reversible for use 5 or, it' preferred, a lining of cloth orother suitable material may be attached, so as to adapt the tablet to rest upon, without injuring, a delicate surface.
I prefer the use of small legs or eet of rubber or leather, secured in some convenient way by means ot' sockets, or of cement, at convenient intervals, to make it rest steadily, and at the same time to avoid scratching the surface of support.
I claim- 1. A portable money-tablet or change-pad, provided on its receiving-surface with corrugations, constructed and adapted for the purposes hereinbefore setforth.
2. In combination with a money-pad o1' change-tablet, the attached legs or supports, secured in sockets or upon the surface, substantially as and for the purposes shown and described.
LEWIS WILKINSON.
In presence of- A. L. MUNsoN, JNO. H. MANNING.
