This invention relates to holders, and particularly to an improved type of flag pole holder. The invention contemplates the use of suitable plates adapted to receive therebetween a bracket, which bracket in turn carries the pole portion of a flag or other means.
At the present time, it is not always desirable to leave flag pole brackets in position upon a pole, as it detracts from the general in appearance of the pole. The present invention contemplates the use of suitable means for holding the flag pole bracket, and which means readily permits the flag pole bracket to be removed or replaced as desired.
An object of the present invention is the provision of suitable means for securing a flag pole bracket which is simple of construction, economical in cost of manufacture, easily applied, and generally superior.
With the above and other objects in view,
the invention consists in the novel and useful provision, formation, construction, association, and relative arrangement of parts, members and features, all as shown in a certain embodiment in the accompanying drawings, described generally and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

Referring now with particularity to the drawings, the improved invention is designated as an entirety by A, and the same includes a pair of plates a and 7) adapted to be held together by means a and between which plates a and b is received a flag pole holder bracket (Z. The plates at and b are both transversely curved to conform in general to the curvature of the pole with which they are intended to cooperate, such a pole being designated in Figures 2, 3, and 6, as e. 5 Theplate b is provided with a flange or rim portion 1 and is recessed at 2 and 3 and likewise transversely bored at 4: and 5. The plate 6 is known as the rear plate and is adapted to be secured against the periphery of the se pole c. The plate a is provided with a pair of slots'6 and 7 and likewise recessed at 8 and 9 and transversely bored at 10 and 11, it being noted in each instance that the transverse bores 10 and 11 for the plate a, and 4 and 5 6C for the plate 6 are substantially central of the recesses. The bracket or holder (1 includes a curved plate portion 12 and an arm 13 extending outwardly at an angle to said plate 12 and which arm is provided with a curved socket member 1 1 and a loop member 15. It is intended that a flag pole or any equivalent member, such as shown at 16, should be passed through the loop 15 and received within the socket member 14, as shown in Figure 2. p
In practicing the invention, it is first ascertained the height at which it is desired that the flag pole holder should be secured to the pole e and having determined this, the pole e is given a pair of key- hole slots 17 and 18. These key-hole slots are spaced a distance apart corresponding to the distance between the transverse bores 1 and 5 and 10 and 11. A pair of screws then have their 89 heads inserted through the curved portions of the key-hole slots and then dropped into the elongated slotted portion so that the heads engage the inner surface of the pole e, as shown in Figure 3 at 19 and 20. The plate 6 is then positioned so that the screws 25 and 26 pass through the transverse bores 4: and 5 whereupon nuts are screw-threaded onto said screws in such a manner that the said plate 7). is tightly secured to the periph 9! cry of the pole e. These nuts will, of course, be received within the recessed portions 2 and 3. The plate a is next secured in position by passing the screws through the perforations 11 and 12, whereupon wing nuts 25 and 26 are screw-threaded upon said screws to bear against the said plate a. The plate 12- of the bracket (Z is provided with two outstanding studs 23 and 24 and this plate is passed between the plates a and Z), the studs being received within the slots 6 and 7, as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. The nuts are then tightened against the plate a, the nuts being received within the recessed portions 8 and 9, as best illustrated in Figure 1. Ends of the screws, of course, may be cut off after the desired length thereof has been ascertained. It is thus evident that it is a simple matter to remove the brackets (Z from between the plates at and b by simply turning the wing nuts 25 and 26 to loosen the same from said plate a. Thus the brackets may be removed from the pole and all that would remain would be the plates (2 and b which would be unnoticeable or, it noticeable, might be ornamental in form and add to the attractive appearance of the pole The plate I) is provided with bores 27 whereby said plate may be secured to an object by passing screws or the like through the bores and into the object.
t is obvious that various changes, variations, and modifications may be made in practicing the invention in departure from the particular showing in the drawings with out departing from the true spirit of the invention.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent isi 1. In a flag pole holder, a pair of trans versely curved plates, one of said plates be ing provided with a rim flange, and the other of said plates being formed with a longitudinally extending slot, an object holding bracket provided with a portion adapted to be received between said plates and in engagement with the rim flange, said portion being provided with a transverse stud for reception within said longitudinally extending slot, and means for causing relative movement between said plates.
2. In means of the character disclosed, comprising a pole carrying bracket formed with a bent extremity, and means for detachably securing said bracket to an object; said means comprising a pair of cooperating plates adapted to receive therebetween the bent extremity of the bracket, a transverse stud formed on said bent extremity, one of said plates being formed with an opening for receiving said stud, whereby the bent extremity may be positioned relative to said plate, and means bet-ween said plates for
