IMPROVE 'MEN-T IN HYDRO-EXTRACTORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,500, dated August 22, 1876; application filed December 31-, 1875.
Be it known that I, WILLIAM P. UHLINGER, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Hydro-EX- tractors; and I do hereby declare that thefollowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon. I
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a longitudinalvertical section of my hydroextractor, and Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof.
This invention has relation to machines which are designed for drying washed wool and other materialbycentrifugal force; and the nature of my invention consists in a segmental bottom of the tub A, and which is journaled in an overhanging bracket, D. on the upper end of the shaft 0 is a circular crank-wheel, a,
to the wrist-pin of which the pitman-rod b of an engine, G, is connected. The slide-valve rod 0 is connected to a wrist-pin on an eccentrio 0 which is secured to the wrist-)in on the crank-wheel a. The engine-bed and the slideway-bed are rigidly secured upon the horizontal portion of the overhanging bracket D, in a plane radiating from the axis of the shaft 0. The bracket D is strongly constructed, and rigidly secured to the top of the tub A, so that it will not vibrate during the operation of the engine. The horizontal overhanging portion of the bracket D is sufficient- 1y raised above the top of the basket B to allow free access to this basket, for filling it and removing articles from it. The guard J prevents injury from the escape of oil from the. engine.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isp The combination of'a tub, A, perforated basket B, having an iniperforatedbottom,
shaft C, and detachable segmental overhanging bracket D, secured to the top of the tub A, and afl'ording the upper bearing for the shaft (J, and'supporting the motor which revolves the shaft and basket, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
