J. SEMKOW BATH SPRAY DEVICE Filed Feb. :5, 1930 J m m M 1 m n AT W E 1. N 2 4 W \\\\s, Id 1 w 4 i: w W w [-ITI "M m Q6/ 0 INVEN TOR. Sam/Yaw ATTORNEY Patented July 14, 1931 erase PATENT Fpgg JOHN SEMKOW, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BATH SPRAY nn'vrcn Application. filed February 3, 1930. Serial No. 425,377.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a bath spray.
The invention has for an object the provision of a device of the class mentioned which is of simple durable construction, dependable in use and efficient in action, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
The invention proposes a neck strap for encircling ones neck and resting upon the shoulders, a water tube attached on the outside of the strap slightly above its lower edge and formed with bottom apertures constituting spraying nozzles, and a flexible water supply system for conveying water from a faucet to said tube. ,Theinvention also proposes means for securing the ends of the strap together for latching it upon ones neck. ,Another object is to provide for the changingof the angle of discharge fro-m said nozzles upon the user.
t is generally known that extremely hot water is not very healthful upon persons heads, while from the neck down the effects are very beneficial. The same applies to extremely cold water. According to the instant bath spray, spraying is permitted upon the user from the neckdown. In addition, this device is very beneficial for women wishing to take a shower without wetting their hair.
Several features of the device consist in that while it may be manually handled when engaged upon the neck, it need not be held. It
acts as a shower, but eliminates the need of a shower curtain in that the stream of water is directed directly against ones body without excessive spraying in all directions.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawings forming a material part of this disclosure Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a device constructed according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the device, shown without the water supply system.
Fig. 8 is an enlargedfragment-ary sectional view taken on the line 83 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 44 of Fig. 2.
The bath spray consists of a neck strap 10 for encircling ones neck and resting upon the shoulders, a water tube 11 attached on the outside of the strap and formed with bottom apertures 12 constituting spraying nozzles, and a flexible water supply system 13 for con veying water from a faucet 14 to the said tube 11. p
The neck strap 10 should preferably be molded in arc shape of substantially a complete circle. The water tube 11 being attached on the outside of the strap naturally assumes the same shape. As shown in Fig. 3, dot and dash lines 15 illustrate a persons neck and shoulder. It should be noticed that the stra 10 encircles the neck and rests upon the shoulder so as to hold the spraying nozzles 12 slightly spaced from the shoulder providing the spraying distance 16. If the tube were used without the strap construction for holding it spaced from ones shoulder, the nozzles '44 could not direct a spray since they would be in intimate contact. v
The water supply system for conveying water from the faucet 14 to the tube 11 consists of a coupler tube 17 interposed between the ends of the tube 11 and provided with a nipple 18 for receiving one end of a flexible pipe 19. The other end of this pipe connects with a faucet engaging bracket 20 upon the discharge end of the faucet 14. The coupler tube 17 has an inlet end 21 from which the nipple 18 projects and side exits 22 to which the tube 11 connects.
A means is provided for securing the ends of the strap together for latching the device upon ones neck. This means is shown-to consist of a snap fastener stud attached upon one of the ends of the strap 10 and engageable with a snap fastener socket 24 attached upon the other end. The tube 11 may be attached upon the strap 10 by a rubber cement or vulcanization. v
The water tube 11 is adjustable in relation to the strap 10 for changing the angle of discharge of said nozzles upon the user. The
adjustment means consists of a pair of strap sections 25, 26 constituting a strap 10 for engaging around ones neck, and are formed with contacting faces of curved shape. The inner section 26is of a greater Width than the outer section 25 so that the outer section may be placed along various positions on the inner section. The tube 11 is attached upon the outer sectio 1 25. A means is provided for holding the sections in relative vertical positions and is shown to consist of a plurality of are shaped Wires 28 attached upon the inner section 26 and frictionally engaging thru apertures in the outer section. The angle of discharge of the nozzles 16 maybe changed by manually forcing the outer section 25 to difierent positions upon the curved surface 27 of the inner section.
In use of the device, it is engaged upon ones neck and maintained by attaching the ends of the strap together with the means provided for this purpose. The faucet 14 should be from a combination hot and cold Water system so that any degree of Water may be supplied to the tube 11. The Water thus supplied discharges from the nozzles 16 upon the person. This device provides a shower from the neck down without subjecting ones head to the Water. The adv ntage of this has been pointed out in the front part of his sp cificationlVhile I have shownand described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it ,isto be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of ,tliefinvention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent'is 1. A bath spray, comprising a neck strap for encircling ones neck and resting upoir the shoulder, a water tube attached on the outside of the strap slightly above its lower edge and formed with bottom apertures constituting spraying nozzles, a flexible Water supply system for conveying water from a faucet to said tube and means for changing the angle of discharge from said I OZZlcs upon a user.
