IMPROVEMENT IN ADJUSTABLE PLow-BEA'Ms.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 181,471, dated August 22, 1876; application filed May 18, 1876.
To all whom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN PENTREATH, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Method of Adjusting and Fastening Movable Beams 0f Flows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to adjustable plowbeams, and it consists in the devices for holding the beam at any angle desired, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
A represents the upper portion of a plow foot or standard to which thehandles B B are secured, said handles being connected by a metal cross-bar, G. D is the plow-beam pivoted and fastened by means of a bolt, a, passing through the beam, and into the-standard, and screwing through a nut, b, placed in a mortise in the standard. .Through the rear end of the beam.]) is passed a bolt, (1, the
side of the beam. On the upper end of the bolt d is screwed a nut, h, which tightens the loop around the bar '0, and holds the beam firmly thereon. To prevent slipping, the upper surface of said bar is corrugated, toothed,
or otherwise made rough, as shown. By this means the beam can easily and quickly be adjusted to any angle desired, and held firmly in any required position.
I do not, broadly, claim a plow-beam pivoted to the standard, and held at any desired angle, as I am aware that such is not new. Having thus fully described my invention,
