Definitions

  • the present invention relates to statistical, calculating and like machines which are operated by mechanical records such as perforatedcards, and relates more particularly to a machine of the adding-printing tabulator type operated by perforated i'ecord cards.
  • Machines of this character as heretofore constructed provide means for analyzing or sensing the perforated cards and simultaneously with such sensing operation transfer and set into operation mechanism for record-- ing the sensed data in the machine. Also in such machines a designation means has been provided as a distinct and separate 1 entity from other parts or units of the machine whereby a change of designation fromv one group of cards. to another group results in the automatic stopping of the machine. Also in such machines it is necessary to provide supplemental cards, for effecting a clearing ofthe machine and for taking a total.
  • Some of the objects of the present inven; tion are to provide means to overcome the disadvantages of machines of the character mentioned; to provide an improved tabulating'machine wherein the speed of the machine is materially increased without introducing factors of error and uncertainty of action; to

  • a re storing bar 64 (Figs. 1, 4, 5 and 7) is provided extending transversely of the sectors and having its ends anchored in the restoring frame plates 65.
  • This restoring frame is arranged to be rocked in proper timed relation by means of a cam plate 66 having its cam slot 67 receiving a roller 68 mounted on one end of the frame plates 65.
