sEN'r OFFICE I ANDY MAURERIOF 'EoUNn MOUNTAIN, CALIFORNIA REVERSIBLE rnow Application filed June 18,,
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in reversible plows and more particularly to that class adapted to be used as a breaking plow and the object is to provide means for attaching a plow share at each edge of the moldboard.
A further object is to provide means for pivotally mounting the mold board in position on the standard of the plow and a further object is to provide means for holding the mold board in adjusted position.
A still further very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a re versible plow of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong and durable, thor-- oughly efficient and reliable in use and opera} tion, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed. A p With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combina tion and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of aplowembodying the features of my invention,
Figure 2'is a similar view taken opposite to a that shown in Figure 1,
Figure 3 is a top plan view thereof, Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective'view showing the standard, 7 t V Figure 5 is a perspective view of the hold- Figure6 is a rear elevation of the plow, Figure 7 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 77 of Figure 1, and
Figure 8 is a sectional view taken substan- 4 tially on the line 8+8 of Figure 1-.
Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 1 indicates the beam of the plow, which may be constructed in any preferred manner and 2 indicates the stand ard depending therefrom and to the lower end of said standard is pivotally. securedmy improved, form of mold board 3.
The upper and lower edges of the moldboard 3 have secured thereto the usual form of plow shares 41 while the forward edge of SCOUT.
- 6. A reinforcing strap 17 is bolted as at 1'8 the strap 9 which is uppermost.

the moldboard is concaved to form a cutting edge, said cutting edge being so formed as to cooperate with the inclined face of the plow share and causing said moldboard to properly t 4 The lower edge of the standard 2 merges into a horizontal sleeve 5 through which extends a bolt 6. A supporting strap 7 is riveted or otherwise secured'to the forward edge of the moldboard and at the center is formed with a 'bearing'8 circumjacent the forward end of the bolt 6. Straps 9 project rearwardly' and horizontally from the plow shares 4 andare o-fi'set as at 10 to receive the horiv Zontally disposed end portions llof a vertical 6 bracket or brace member llwhich is riveted to the mold board 3, the end portions llbeing bolted'to' the offset portions 10 of thestr'aps 9as-at12p W "t A supporting strap 15 is disposed between 7 the straps 9 and has anarcuate intermediate. portion 16 about the rear portion of the bolt to the-supporting strap 15 and has an arcuate intermediate portion 19 circumjacentthebolt 6. Qlhus it-will be seenthat the moldboard 3 is rockabl'e on the bolt -6' to be placed eitherin the full lineposition in Figure 6' or in thedotted line position thereof. v
A 'U-shaped holder 20 is'rockabl-y mount ed by-a bolt 21 through the juncture of the plow beam 1; with. the standard 2, said 'bolt extending through the sides of the U-shaped holder so that the ends thereof may straddle A handle 23 projects from the cross ;central portion of the holder 20 for easy manipu- 7 lation thereof.
This form of plow is particularly adapted in case of rolling or hilly land, but it will 9'0 be understood that the same can be used; for turning all kindsof soil and it will likewise be seen that the moldb'oard can be practically instantly changed to produce a rightor left hand plow. 1
The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in considerable detail'merel-y for the purposes ofexemplification sincein'actualpractice itattains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the substantially U-shaped bracket having an intermediate portion fixed to the rear portion of the moldv board and having its ends fixed to the horizontal straps, a substantially U-shaped member rockably mounted on the juncture of the plow beam with the standard and adapted to be swung to straddle one of the horizontal straps for holding the mold board in adjusted position.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ANDY MAURER.
a sleeve, a bolt extending through the sleeve and projecting beyond the ends thereof, a
double mold board, a supporting strap on the land side of the front edge portion of the mold board and having a bearing at the ceni ter thereof j ournalled about the forward end portion of the bolt, a share at each edge of the mold board and merging in rearwardly extending horizontal straps, a vertical supporting strap between the rear end portions of the horizontal straps and having an arcuate portion about the rear end portion of the bolt,
a reinforcing strap fixed to the vertical supporting strap having an arcuate portion about the rear end portion of the bolt.
2. In a plow construction, the combination of a beam having a standard terminating in a sleeve, a bolt extending through the sleeve and projecting beyond the ends thereof, a double mold board, a supporting strap on the land side of the front edge portion of the mold board and having a bearing at the center thereof j ournalled about the forward end portion of the bolt, a share at each edge of the mold board and merging in rearwardly extending horizontal straps, a vertical supporting strap between the rear end portions of the horizontal straps and having an arcuate portion about the rear end portion of the bolt, a reinforcing strap fixed to the vertical supporting strap having an arcuate portion about the rear end portion of the bolt, a substantially U-shaped bracket having an intermediate portion fixed to the rear portion of the mold board and having its ends fixed to the horizontal straps.
3. In a plow construction, the combination of a beam having a standard terminating in a sleeve, a bolt extending through the sleeve and projecting beyond the ends thereof, a
double mold board, a supporting strap on the land side of the front edge portion of the mold board and having a bearing at the center thereofjournalled about the forward end portion of the bolt, a share at eachedge of the mold board and merging in rearwardly extending horizontal straps, a vertical supportin strap between the rear end portions of the orizontal straps and having an arcuate portion about the rear end portion of the bolt, a reinforcing strap fixed to the vertical supporting strap having an arcuate portion about the rear end portion of the bolt, a
