IMPROVEMENT IN COMiBINED STOVE-PIPE THIMBLES AND REGISTERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. 180,917, dated August 8, 1876 application filed June 12, 1876.

To all whom tt may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES PETTLT, of Erieville, in the county of Madison and State of New ,York, have invented a new sind Improved Combined Stove- Pipe Thimble and Register, of which the following is a specificaprovided with openings to allow the air to pass for Ventilating and for heating, and one is provided with Va register.

Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my improved combined thimble and register. Fig. 2 is a plan of the ltop plate, and Fig. 3 is a plan ot' the bottom plate.

A is the large tube extending through the ceiling B and oor B', and supported by the register-plate C below, which is attached to the ceiling, while at the top it is covered by the plate D, having a ange,`F, fitting in the hole in the door and over the top of tube A. Said plate D also has a lange, Gr, and holes E. The flange is for the connection of tube H, which incloses a space, J, between it and the thimble I, in which the stove-pipe passes, said space to be filled with non-conducting material, it' preferred. Tubes H and I are made in two parts, which tit together by an together with it.

P is a cover for the stovepipe hole when the pipe is taken out in summer, and N is a plug for stopping the pipe-hole at the lower end. It is inserted from below, and is secured to lugs f by a kind of bayonet-fastening. Plate D may also have a ring to cover holes E, it' desired.

'1 Having thus described my invention, what `I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

Ihe combination ot' tubes A, H, and I and plates C D, when arranged with the air-space J closed at the bottom, and either open or closed at the top, and with passages in the plates to the s'pace between plates A H, with a register, K, in the lower plate G, for opening and closing them, substantially as specifled.
