L. A. GUITERMAN 'TEE HOLDER Filed April 19. 1929 2 m4 .Lirlillililil m a .2 M ENTQR BY 23 TTORNEY May 26, 1931.
fatented May 26, 1931 LEO A. GUITERMAN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TEE nonnna Application filed April 19,
This invention relates to clothing accessories. It is directed to an improved golf tee holder adaptedwto be carried by golfers and for the like purpose. 1
An object of this invention is to provide a tee holder of the character described which may be conveniently worn as part of the golfers clothing, such as a sport garment having a pocket with a flap, and to which the tee holder may be detachably secured.
A further object of this invention is to provide a durable and neat device of the character described which shall be relatively inexpensive to manufacture which shall be easy to attach and detach to the clothing, and which shall be practical and efficient -to a high degree in use.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
The invention accordingly consistsin the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the following claims.
In the accompanying drawings, in which is shown one of the various illustrative embodiments of this invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a tee holder embodying the invention attached to a portion of a garment Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken. on
line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of a tee holder attached to a pocket provided with a flap adapted to be buttoned thereto.
Referring in detail to the drawings for an embodiment of the invention, 10 designates a tee holder or magazine attached to a portion 11 of a garment adapted to be worn by a golfer for permitting ready access to said tees. Said holder comprises a front portion 12 made of flexible material such as cloth, fabric, leather or any other suitable material, and a rear portion 14: of flexible lining or backing material stitched thereto along the perimeter thereof as by stitching 15. The outer edge portions 12a, 14a of said ating 1929. Serial No. 356,41o.
portions 12, 1 1 respectively are preferably folded inwardly before the stitching operation to produce a smooth binding edge. Said portions 12, lt are further sewedtogether as by stitching'16 along spaced parallel lines terminating short of the top edge of the holder 10 and forming a number of narrow, elongated pockets 17. Thefront portion 12of said holder is formed with a plurality of aligned preferably round openings 18, there being one opening for each pocket 17, and said opening being disposed adjacent the upper ends of said pocket. The central portion 20 of the holder 10 may be somewhat wider than pockets 17 and provided with a button hole 21 extending thru said holder 10. Adjacent the upper end corners of the holder on the rear surface thereof, are secured a pair of snap fastener sockets 22 adapted to cooperate with complementary fasteners 22a, attached to the garment portion 11. The golf tees 25 may be carried in the holder, by inserting the shanks 26 in the openings 18 to extend into the pockets 17, with the heads 27 of the tees protruding as shown in the drawings.
The holder 10 may be mounted on any convenient portion of the golfers clothing having suitable snap fasteners 22a for cooperwith the socket portions 22. The holdermay also be mounted on any portion of theclothing having a suitable button for cooperating with the button hole 21. Preferably however, the holder is made in the shape of, though somewhat smaller than, a
pocket lapel or flap, such as lapel 30 of pocket 31, forming part of'a jacket, shirt, coat or the like garment. The snap'fastener portions 22a may be sewed to the sides of the pocket for cooperating with" fastener portions 22 on'the holder 10. Preferably said pocket is provided with a button 32 for cooperating with button hole 33 of lapel 80,": To ensure proper attachment to the garment, the holder lO'may be buttoned to said button 33.
It will now be understood thatthe tee magazine may be conveniently attached to the pocket and entirely concealed by buttoning the lapel, the top of the tees thus likewise being concealed from view. The
lapel 30 also serves to retain the tees in their pockets thus preventing accidental loss of said tees. By using the button 32 as Well as snap fasteners, folding of the holder ispre- Vented, the tees constantly being in position for removal for use.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in'whic htheseveral objects of this invention are achieved, and Which is Well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiment set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and notin. a limiting sense.
*Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In combination with a garmentpocket havinga button and lapel having a button hole for said button, a golf tee holder havinga button hole adaptedto receive said button for mounting said holder on said pocket and beneath said lapel.
2. In combination with algarment pocket havinga button andlapel having a button hole for said button, a. igolf tee holder-baring a button holeadapted to receive said button for mounting said holder on said pocket and beneath said lapel, and snap fastening means for securing the outeredges ofsaid'holder to said pocket.
3. Incombination With-a garmenhpocket having a button and lapel having-a -button hole for said button, a golf tee holder having a button hole adapted to receive said button for mounting said holder on said pocket and beneath said lapel, said holder comprising a pair of superimposed pieces of sheet material of substantially similar shape having the edge portions thereof sewed together, and having a; plurality of parallel-lines of stitching definingpoekets, and openings in one of said pieces to permit insertion of portions of said tees into said pockets.
4, In combination, a ,garment-having a lapel, agolf tee magazine comprising a pair ofsimilar superimposed pieces of flexible sheet material of substantially -rectangular shape underlyin said lapel and entirelycovered thereby, said pieces being stitched together along the entire perimeter thereof, said pieces being further sewed together along a plurality 'of substantially parallel lines todefine With said first-named stitching a plurality ofpockets, one of said pieces having openings for permitting insertion of a portion of a tee into each pocket.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
