The general object othis invention is to provide an improved Window pulley construction particularly designed for use with a double window and wherein the upper and lower sections are secured to opposite ends of the same cords.
Another object of the invention is to provide a window pulley construction which may be either Vused below or above the top frame of the window. Y
Other objects and the advantage of this inventionwill be apparent from the following description taken in connection withthe accompanying drawings wherein: Fig. 1 is a face view of a window embodying the features of my invention with the front window frame plates removed and with various parts in section to more clearly illustrate the invention.
Fig. 2 is a section taken on line 2 2 of Fig. 9 is a section taken online 99 of Fig. 7. Y f
Fig 10 is a bottom plan view of the device.
Fig. 11 is a top plan'view of the device.
Fig.` 12 is a view similar to Fig. 2'showv ing the pulley device positioned above the top window frame and v Fig. 13 is a sectional view of the device when positioned above the top wmdow frame.
".Referring to the drawings by reference characters I have indicated my improved pulley devices generally at 10. As shown this device includes a case 12 and a cover top member 21 of the case.v The coverplate-vl and case 12 are shown pulley shown 6,1929. serial No. 405,110. 'Y
plate'13.' The case12includes sides 14E-having at oneendl thereof` ears 15 which "are provided with; apertures 16 and top .and'bottom members 17 and 18. In th'etop member 17 there are provided a pair of spaced apertures 19 and in the bottom member 18 a pair of spaced apertures 20 are provided.
The cover plate 13 includesv a top member `21 and a bottom member 22 which is cutoff Vadjacent each vside'asv indicated'at .23 to allow an vunobstructed passage throughfthe "apertures 20 of the case while thev top `member 21eXtends thefull width and obstructs vthe passage through the apertures 19 inthe as adapted vto be securedtogether by a bolt y 24 andv a nut 25 and the bolt 24 is adapted to act as a shaft onwhich is rotatably posi. tioned'agrooved pulley 26.
The nut 25 is preferably soldered, welded or otherwise secured to the cover/wherebyfthe I bolt 21 maybe removed without ldisturbing the nut.
-My improved pulleymechanism 101nayl'vbe either mounted below the upper frame member 27 of the window as sho-wn in Figs. y1 to '4 inclusive or it may be mounted above the upper #frame member `of the window as shown in Figs; 12 and 13. Y i
When a pair of the devices A10 are mounted as shown in'Figs'. ,1 to t inclusive theyere adapted to be secured to the vunder side of Y the upper frame member 27 'of the window by plurality-of, screws 28 and the devices arefpreferably Vpositioned so thatrthe cover plates 13 face inwardly Wherebytliey may be readilyV removed to allow raccess to the interior of the devices upon removal of the bolts`24. Y f
Fositionedover each oi the pulleys there is provided a cord 29 one end of which may be secured to one closureV member f 30 "and VVthe opposite end of whchmay be se* cured to another clesure member j y YWhen the devices 10am positioned. below, i
the upper frame member 2 7 of the window the closure members 3 0 and 31` are provided with recesses 3 2 in the upper portens' thereoffteprevde- -clearancefor the devices 1.0'
when either one of the closure members are moved upward as shown in Fig. 4.
When the devices l0 are positioned above the upper frame member 27 of the window as shown in Fig. 12 the cover plate 13 is positioned in the case 12 so that the member 21 of the cover closes the apertures 20 of the case and the short cover and member 22 allow a free passageway through the apertures 19 of the case 12 as shown in Fig. 13. When the devices 10 are thus positioned above the frame member 27, apertures 33 are provided in the frame member adjacent the apertures 19 of the devices 10 in which the cords 29 are adapted to be positioned.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that I have provided a novel window closure supporting pulley device which is extremely simple in construction yet highly eicient in use.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
1. In a device of `the class described, a case, said case including a back, side mem bers and end members, an aperture in said end members adjacent each side thereof, a cover for said case, said cover including means adapted to allow free passageway through the apertures at one end of said case and means adapted to obstruct the passageway through the end apertures at'the opposite end of said case, means to secure said cover to said case, and a pulley rotatably supported in said case.
2. In a device of the class described, a case including end members, an aperture in each end member adjacent each side thereof, 'a cover for said case, said cover including end members, one of said end members terminating short of the sides of said cover, said short end member of said cover being arranged to allow free passageway through the apertures at one end of said caseand said long cover end member being ladapted to obstruct the passageway through the apertures at the opposite end of'said case, a pulley and means to rotatably support said pulley in said case.
3. In a device of the class described, a case, said case including a back, side members and end members, outwardly extending tongues on said side membersadjacent one end thereof, an aperture in said end members adjacent each side thereof, a cover for said case, said cover including a back and end members, one of said end members extending the full Width of said back and the other of said end members terminating short of the sides of said cover, said cover being adapted to be positioned on said ease with the the back thereof spaced from said case back and with the end members thereof positioned inwardly of said case end members, said long cover end member being arranged to obstruct the passageway the end apertures at the opposite end of said case, means to secure said cover to said case, and a pulley rotatably supported in said ease.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto aix my signature.
BERT E. BARTHOLOMEW.
