Description

V. KLOBASSA.
WARDROBE.
Patented Aug.l, 1876.
w v w N. PETERS, PHOYO-LITNQGRAPHER, WASHINGTON, D C,
UNITED STATES PATT l VICTOR KLOBASSA, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN WA RDRQBES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 80,480,
dated Augustl, 1876; application filed June 5, 1876.
struction of Wardrobes; and I do hereby de clare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in the construction of wardrobes and consists in a frame-work constructed of metallic or other rods or tubes held in position by screws, and covered with a suitable textile material, having a sliding rod on one side, forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the wardrobe. Fig. 2 represents a cross-section of the same through the lineman. Fig. 3 IS a horizontal section through the line y y.
The metallic or other bars or tubes A and A are held in position by screws a, and form a rectangular frame, supported by the four vertical rods or tubes A, or by ornamental legs F, affixed to the rods or bars A. The said frame is covered with oil-cloth, reps, or any suitable textile, B, fastened to the bars A and A with rings or otherwise. The bars A, forming the top of the frame-work, are provided with hooks c, forthe purpose of hanging up clothes thereon. The rod 0 is bent at as will be hereinafter more fully set shape, to enable it. to the top bar A, and thus forming To the said bar 0 is attached a both ends in circular slide along the door.
catch, 0, to fasten this bar to the bar or rod A. The bars A are provided with projecting supporters d, for the purpose of holding shelves 1), if so desired. The diagonal bars E are intended to strengthen the framework of the wardrobe should it be made of large dimensions.
The bars or tubes A and A can be made of one or more pieces joined together. The entire frame-work of the wardrobe can be taken apart, and, being constructed of straight bars or rods, is very Well adapted for transportation, and can be easily taken to the rooms of top stories. The frame-work can be covered with any textile material matching the furniture-covering of a room, thus making a useful and ornamental piece of furniture.
This wardrobe, being supported by the bars A or the legs F, has the advantage of other portable wardrobes of not requiring to be hung on hooksor nails in the wall, thus being capable of supporting clothes of heavier weight.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The improved wardrobe, consisting of framework constructed of bars, rods or tubes A and A, the sliding bar (3, with covering or curtain B, catch 0, books 6, shelving D, all constructed substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.-
