IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED SCISSORS-SHARPENERS. SCREW-DRIVERS, AND BUTTON-HOOKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. E80, 166, dated August 1, 1876; application filed July 14, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE D. DEAN, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State'of New Jersey, have invented a certain Gombined Scissors-Sharpener, Screw-Driver, and Button-Hook, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists in combinipg, in a neat portable shape, a scissors-sharpener, screw-driver, and button-hook.

For a seissoissharpener I take a long piece of steel and prepare one side, A, as a fine file; and, ordinarily, I will make the reverse side or back, B, round, as shown particularly in Fig.3, and I make it smooth, so that when a file has been used to sharpen the scissors, the back will be used to impart a smooth and finished edge. But it is not necessary that this back shall be smooth or round, for a finished edge for cutting may be gotten by using the polished ends of the tool, either the one C, constructed as a screw-driver, or the one D, made into abutton-hook. Thus,
take out the screw holding the two sections together, or the screw gets loose andreeds' tightening, or a screw-driver is of frequent use about a house, and it is very properly combined with a scissorssharpener5 and, in addition, the button-hook, so much used, is combined with the former, making a very desirable tool for the work-basket. Therefore,
