IMPROVEMENT IN BURGLAR-ALARMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No 179,391, dated July 4,1876; application filed January 25, 1876.
' it consists of the construction, arrangement,
and combination of devices, as fully set forth in the annexed claim.
Figure l represents a side elevation of my improved burglar-alarm. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same.
A represents the barrel, which is provided with a nipple, a, in the usual manner. The rear end of the barrel is forged or cast so as to form a bed-plate or rear projection, K, which is so arranged as to support the hammer mechanism, which will be hereafter described. On the under side of the bed-plate K is attached a gimlet-pointed screw, b, which is designed to hold the alarm mechanism wherever it may be placed. On each side of the bed-plate K are secured standards c, and to the upper ends of these standards the hammer B is pivoted by means of the extended curved arm lz., as shown. Between the standards e is located the spring C, one end of which is rmly secured to the hed-plate K, and the other end rests against the lower side of the arm h of the hammer B,
as shown. -At the rear of the bed-plate K is arranged a swivel-eye, c, in which is hooked one,end ot' the trigger D, and the hook is prevented from coming out of the eye by means ot' the lug z' on the hook. The other end of the trigger D is bent at a right angle, and is provided with a knob or ball,f, in the manner shown. rlhe trigger must be free to move in any direction in connection with the swiveleye c.
To operate my improved alarm, the mechanism is rst secured to the door or window What I claim as new, and wish to secure by' Letters Patent, is-

adapted to be operated by the opening ofthe door or window, in `the manner set forth.
