IMPROVEMENT IN GLASS-BOTTLE MOLDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,340, dated June 27, 1876; application filed May 1, 1876.
To all whom @t may concern:
Be it known that we,.JACOB PEASE and ABRAHAM TESTER, of Brooklyn, in the county of' Kings and State of New York, have invented new and Improved Glass Bottle Molds, of which the following is a specification:
Our invention consists of the bottom of a glass bottle mold so arranged that the opening ot' the sides of the mold lets the bottom fall to relieve the bottle from pressure between the bottom and the breast, which in the common molds cracks and breaks the bottles to some extent. The contrivance is such that when the mold is closed the bottom is raised np to the proper position for shaping the bottle.
Figure l is a sectional elevation of the mold, showing; it in the closed condition. Fig. 2 is a section showing it open. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section, and Fig. 4 is a plan of the mold inverted.
A and B represent the two sides of the mold, which are pivoted at O to open and close, as in other molds. In this case we have arranged the rockarm F under the bottom, and another arm, G, to be actuated by one of the-closing sides for raising the bottom to its place when closing the mold; but we do not limit ourselves to this arrangement, as it is evident other devices, actuated by one or both theparts of' the mold, may be used.

Having thus described oui` invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is I 1. The combination, with the movable sides A B, ot' a rising,` and falling,` bottom, D, connected with said sides, so as to effect the automatic 'operation ot' the bottom by the sides of the mold, substantially as set forth.
il. The combination of the movable bottom and the rock-arms F G with the opening and closing` sides of a glass-bottle mold, substantiaily as specied.
