IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE ELBOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,299, dated June 27, 1876; application filed May 27, 1676.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED GREENLEAF, of Brooklyn, E. D., in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Stove-Pipe Elbow, of which the following is a specification:
The figure is a side view of a stove-pipe elbow to which my improvement has been applied, part being broken away to. show the construction.
The object of this invention is to furnish improved stove-pipe elbows, which shall be so constructed that the pipes may be cleaned out when required without being taken down, which may be conveniently examined to see if they need cleaning, which may be ventilated so that they will not rust if allowed to stay. up in summer, and which may be cleaned and polished vwith the same facility as ordinary elbows.
The invention consists in the combination of the collar and the cover with an opening formed in the one part of the elbow directly opposite the cavity of the other part, as hereinafter fully described.

The edge or flange of the cover 0 has two or more notches or slots formed in it to receive the screws by which it is secured in place, and which are screwed into the collar B, so that by loosening the said screws the cover 0 may be removed when required.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the collar B and cover 0 with an opening formed in the one part of the elbow, directly opposite the cavity of the other part, substantially as herein shown and described.
