Another important object of the invention resides in the provision of a pad of a novel construction which will perform its function in a manner to provide maximum relief to the wearer when the same isadjusted in position.
Gther objects the invention are to pro vide, in manner as hereinafter set forth, a
t uss of the aforementioned character which will be simple in constructioin strong, durable, ellicient in its use and which may be manufactured at low cost.
The aforegoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification,taken in Connection with the ac con panying drawings wherein like charactors of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is perspective view of a truss constructed in accordance with this invention.

llcferring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 1 designates o'enerally the pad which comprises a rubber body portion 2 which is substantially l-l-shaped in horizontal cross-section, the end portions 3 of which are connected by the web portion st. The body portion 2 is formed of pliable rubber. A pair of lips or extensions 5 extend inwardly in spaced relation to the web portion 1 on the inner sides of the end portions 3 and mounted between said end portions and disposed against said lips is a wad of soft material 6, preferably cotton. The wad of cotton 6 is detachably maintained in position through the medium of the elastic band 7 as most clearly illustrator in Figure 1. Strips of felt 8 are secured to the outer side of the end portions 3 of the body 1 of the pad by the stitching 9. A,- felt block 10 is secured by any suitable means, such as an adhesive, through the lower end of the rubber body portion 2 as best illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings.
For the purpose of securing the pad 1 in position, an elastic body encircling adjustable belt 11 is provided which extends transversely across the front side of said pad 1 and is secured thereto through the medium of the loop 12 which encircles the web portion 4 of the pad and said belt 11 and is secured to the forward end of the crotch straps 13. As best illustrated in Figure 8 the loop 12 is of a size to draw the adjacent portion of the belt into the depression formed in the forward side of the pad 1 by the end portion 3 of the body 2. The rear end of the crotch strap 13 is adj ustably secured to the rear portion of the belt 11 by the loops 14. The belt 11 is provided with a lining of soft material 15 to prevent chafing of the wearers body and said lining is slidably secured in position on the inner side of said belt in a'manner to permit independent stretching thereof through the medium of the loops 16.
In the use of the truss, the pad is properly positioned against the wearers body and is secured against displacement by the belt 11 and crotch straps 13 in an obvious manner. lVhen the belt 11 is tightened. the pressure thereof on the opposite side of the loops 12 will force the outer end of the portion 3 of the rubber block 3 outwardly, and the inner end of said portion will be swung toward each other in a manner to yieldingly embrace the injured portion of the body. The felt strip 8 on the outer side of theend portions 3 and the felt block 10 on the lower end of the pad protect the body of the wearer against the comparatively sharp corner portions of the rubber body portion 2, as will be apparent.
it is believed that the many advantages of a truss constructed in accordance with this invention will be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
\Vhat is claimed is 1. A truss of the character described coinprisinga resilient block of substantially H- shaped horizontal cross section providing a pair of end portions and a comparatively thin connecting web portion, an adjustable body encircling supporting belt extending across the forward side of the block and means for connecting the block to the adjacent portion of the belt in a manner to draw said belt inwardly toward the web portion, said belt adapted to swing the end portions of the block in a vertical plane when tightened.

A truss of the'character described comprising a resilient block of substantially H- shaped horizontalcros s section providing a pair ofend portions and a comparatively thin connecting web portion, an adjustable body encircling supporting belt extending transversely across the forward side of the block, a flexible loop encircling the web portion and-the adjacent portion of the belt for connecting the resilient block and the belt together in a manner to draw said belt inwardly toward the web portion, the portions of the belt adjacent the opposite side of the loop being adapted for engagement with the adjacent side of the end portion for swinging said end portion in a horizontal plane when the belt is tightened, a crotch strap having its forward end secured to the loop and its rear end adjustably coupled to the belt, and a body of pliant material detachably mounted between the end portion of the block on the rear side of the connecting web portion.
5. A truss of the character described comprising, a resilient block of substantially H- shaped horizontal cross section providing apair of end portions and a comparatively thin connecting web portion, an adjustable body encircling supporting belt extending transversely across the forward side of the block, a flexible loop encircling the web portion and the adjacent portion of the belt for connecting the resilient block and the belt together in a manner to draw said belt in wardly toward the web portion, the portions of the belt adjacent the opposite side of the loop being adapted for engagement with the adjacent side of the end portion for swinging said end portion in a horizontal plane when the belt is tightened, a crotch strap having its forward end secured to the loop and its rear end adj ustably coupled to the belt, and a body of pliant material detachably mounted between the end portion oi the block on the rear side of the connecting web portion, and resilient pads secured to the outer vertical side of the block and to the lower end thereof.
